| DESIGN NAME: Pure Plus PRIMARY FUNCTION: Island Range Hood INSPIRATION: Minimal sharpness, defined surfaces and seamless transition are the keywords while following the user-centric design approach for this design. The iconic pendant form rebuilt for better user experience and maximum usefulness. The seamless transition between the glass control panel and durable metal body gives maximum efficiency. With this design, it has aimed to achieve timeless design, which can blend in to current and upcoming kitchen trends. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With the sleek design of Pure Plus, island hood, it’s aimed to perceive our customers’ desires and offer them maximum comfort and innovation. Detailed user scenarios and observations shape Pure Plus’ product anatomy and elements. The powerful technology, ergonomic and simple design language of Pure Plus takes the kitchen experience a step forward and enhance the modern kitchen design by using of high-quality materials and precise production methods. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Pure Plus innovative modular connection system provides two different installation alternatives, which makes product the perfect fit for an island and wall mounted use. The user can easily control the island cooker hood with the touch buttons, or with the curved remote controller. Aluminium and carbon filters are enhances the flexibility of replacement and rearrangement. The height of the island hood can be adjusted. Pure Plus operates in re-circulation mode, which improves indoor heat isolation and saves energy. High efficiency motors reduce energy losses through improved design and better materials. They also have higher service factors, longer bearing life and less vibration. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2018 in Istanbul and finished in August 2018 in Merzifon, and was exhibited in IFA in Berlin 2018 and IMM Cologne 2019. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The production methodology of the iconic shape of the design is semi-industrialised, due to some parts, such as outer skin. Metal sheet bending machine built the main structure, which holds the new generation motor and the outer skin. The glass panel used as a cover on the control panel and design element is tempered glass. The outer skin, which rolled manually as a semi-closed form, attached to the main constructive structure. The whole body covered with powder coating to exceed the specified finish requirements for domestic appliances and provide colours such as anthracite blue, or mate black. The first phase of the analysis focused on user interviews, photography and video footage during field research. From user perspective, the requirements and limitations of the project are determined, and focusing on finding alternative solutions to overcome the challenges, such cooking vapour, lighting needs and height adjustability. Second phase of the research focused on the design alteration by brainstorming, mood boards. The findings shaped the product anatomy and its’ elements for ease of use. CHALLENGE: It’s aimed to perceive our customers’ desires and offer them maximum comfort and ease of use. Detailed user scenarios and observations shape Pure Plus’ product anatomy and elements. Design research on user scenarios is resulted as three main keywords, such as minimal sharpness, defined surfaces and seamless transition to fulfil the user requirements.
