| DESIGN NAME: ArpeggiO Aqua PRIMARY FUNCTION: Earrings INSPIRATION: The collection was inspired by bubbles coming up from beneath the sea. Bubbles are so unpredictable that we cannot expect where they may go, or what shapes they may form the next second. However, they all orient to a certain direction, and vanish at the highest point. Therefore the design team come up with the idea of ArpeggiO Aqua Earrings. The design team want to represent not only the beauty and melodies of bubbles, but also the permanent pursuing. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The shapes of ArpeggiO Aqua Earrings show fluidity and melodic dynamics of bubbles' three status:up coming, spinning, and floating. Silver beads of different sizes stringed together, constructing the main bodies of the creations and inlaid pearls give the spatial composition sting points. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: ArppegiO Aqua Earrings shows three beautiful states of bubbles: up going, spinning, and floating. The earrings are light, fluent and eye-catching. Wearing them is like to wear a music phrase in one's ears. The design team hope their jewelry can bring wearers comfortable and self-confident wearing experiences, and become beautiful reminders to the world. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2017 in Taipei City and finished in August 2018 in Taipei City. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design team use silver beads to imitate bubbles' luster and fluidity. Inspired by traditional wax carving techniques, designers melt green wax and drop it carefully on anvils to obtain spherical beads. Only 50% of selected beads would be soldered to create patterns. After casting, designers carefully twist silver pieces with rods of different radius to make them more stereoscopic. At last, pearls are inlaid on the silver pieces to complete the creations. Both bubbles and lives are born in vanity, and fade away into emptiness, yet they leave something permanent. The designers use silver and pearls instead of transparent materials such as glass or acrylic, to present free wills along with lives' weights. Entre Bijoux looks forward to brining wearers jewelry can be worn everyday, everywhere. CHALLENGE: To represent bubbles' variability, the design team produce bubbles piece by piece instead of using 3D modeling and 3D printing. In wax beads producing process, designers need precise controls of timing, angle, wax amount etc., in case air and black oxides fill the wax beads and cause flaws. And since beads' scales are rather small(2mm in average), it's hard to manage in soldering. Improper constructions will cause junctions' breaking up in casting, or damage beads' individual appearances. NAME: Entre Bijoux PROFILE: Entre Bijoux was established in Taipei, Taiwan, 2017 March.Their creations are both traditional and modern, inspired by life, starting from the freest souls; they hold the classic, and embrace the modern. "Entre" is "in between" in French. The jewels don’t speak, just reflect and refract. Entre Bijoux wants to create the unique connections and inspirations between people. Their creations are various in many materials and dimensions, such as bubbles' melodic dynamics, Hakka bamboo weaving and geometric patterns, the image of outlines of emotion etc. In their minds, meaning of jewelry never changes: the light comes from the people who wear it. They keep the abstract, childish dreams and always welcome unbound conversations, and the imagination wild as drawing freely on the wall. |
