| DESIGN NAME: AMAN BOWL PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bowling Alley INSPIRATION: The logo draws the entire space in both 2D & 3D vertically and horizontally. The right degree performs the momentum to the entire design which enhances the energy of sport. Celebrating & cheerful color splash the right energy to the entire environment to bring endless excitement. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Aman Bowl in Alor Setar was created from a vacant commercial space utilisation standpoint. From the moment Penang-based developer Belleview Group approached us for a design solution in 2015, until it was transformed into a internationally benchmarked 30-lane bowling arena spanning across 30,000 sqft up on level 4, it had been a turning point for our design practice. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2016 from design to construction in alor setar , malaysia and finished in dec 2016. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Creative application of mirror and lighting successfully bring the idea of illusion that’s create infinity height & depth to resolve space and height constrain with visually enlarge the entire environment. Ceiling, wall and floor graphically designed brings momentum to the space. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: Infinity, illusion, colors, cheerful, momentum, 3D, 2D RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: Two main site challenges we faced. Firstly, the 3rd floor venue (below a parking floor) presented multiple pillars. Secondly, its low ceiling created a constraint to spaciousness. To counter the venue's space and height shortcomings, we applied mirrors and creative lighting as visual illusory tricks to create an exaggerated image of a larger sporting arena. To enhance it, we also added reflective lighting as finishing touch to visually diffuse the solid pillars. Lastly, all beams were leveled off and boxed-up, thus making the venue more visual-friendly and less claustrophobic, especially on days with high human traffic.
