| DESIGN NAME: Honore Port Special Edition PRIMARY FUNCTION: Luxury Wine Packaging INSPIRATION: The Honore project salutes the men and women who, over the centuries, have invested in cultivating vineyards and crafting sublime and genuine wines of Quinta do Crasto, as Honore Port. The current owners of this estate are proud to display the Honore et Labore motto (with honour and work) adopted by their ancestor Constantino de Almeida. The lines and the landscape of the Douro valley, where the estate stands guard, are reflected in this commemorative packaging and were its major inspiration. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To mark more than 400 years of history of Quinta do Crasto, an emblematic Portuguese estate from Douro with wines recognized worldwide, Omdesign created and produced Honore Port, a special edition limited to 400 bottles of a very old Tawny Port with more than 100 years. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This highly luxurious edition has been crafted by a team of the most experienced Portuguese artisans, who have worked individually on each piece, giving their full attention to every little feature and detail in order to devise a thing that is unparalleled, exclusive. When opening the wooden packaging, the crystal decanter stands outs and reminds the distinctive terraces of the Douro valley. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was started in 2015 in Porto (Portugal) and finished in December 2019. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Honore Port is produced with distinctive materials such as hand-wrought silver, the finest crystal chosen by glassmakers to ensure sparkle and transparency, as well as exquisite solid walnut, and a hand-stitched bag. The 400 numbered decanters were individually crafted to the highest state of purity by master glassblowers from a world-renowned Portuguese company. There are 400 unique pieces, designed and crafted exclusively for this edition. Each piece has been finished off with a handcrafted, sterling silver plaque produced by a Portuguese silversmith, who has been working with this noble material for over a century. This special edition reflects the lines and the landscape of the Douro valley, where Quinta do Crasto stands guard. All the elements were laboured by the wise hands of Portuguese artisans who focused on detail to make this edition absolutelly special. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to create a highly luxurious and differentiating packaging, able to perpetuate more than 4 centuries of Quinta do Crasto history and to mirror their identity and values.
