| DESIGN NAME: Auspicious PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: Signs symbolizing auspiciousness and perfection exist since the ancient times of China, and for this residential space planning project, gourd is used as the spatial symbol to interpret the implied blessed meanings of happiness, perfection and wealth. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The space adopted the axial symmetric form development, planning the spatial functions starting from the axis, with the front half as the public space and the rear half as the private area. Direct and indirect illuminations are fused for the lighting design to accomplish the smooth and gentle effect. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The foyer presents a cultural sentiment with an elegant display, while the living room and dining room are separated with an open-style to allow the ratio of the corridor being reduced to the minimum. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The ground area adopted wooden floor instead of carpet, where the Herringbone pattern arrangement endows the pattern with exquisite elegance, allowing it to become the medium between furniture conversations; the intersection of space is framed by stone material, and the horizontal contour of the intersection allows for a smooth passage for wheelchair users too. The picture demonstrated on the main wall in the living room chose natural stone materials with a precisely calculated arrangement, showing a gentle and elegant sentiment resembling ink paintings. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The space is 333 square meters TAGS: Interior Design, Residential ,House,Space RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The ceiling in the dining room applied white glossy paint to soften the light and enlarge the sense of space, and a light food area is further planned in the kitchen on the right other than the dining table. The rear wall of the dining room is a double gourd shaped display shelf composed of several titanium-plated metallic rods, the combination of different materials and the illumination as well as coloring of the light allow lights and shadows, brightness and darkness to result in subtle variations on the indoor furniture and textures, endowing classical and modern elements including veneer of the cabinet, titanium and glass to dance around and create a new meaning for classical elements. CHALLENGE: In the private bathroom area in the master bedroom, the marvelous upside down gourd shaped mirror with titanium is accentuated by the lighting, accomplishing profound wonderfulness whether for visual or user experience. The unique part of this project is the smooth connection between different materials, which is as smooth as female skin, and such performance can only be achieved through extremely high accuracy of design and use of materials. There is a meaning underneath every word of “Mi-Ke-Si-Bei.” “Mi (rice)” is the staple food of Asia. Rice provides essential energy in every day living. Farmers grow rice diligently according to solar terms. As a result, the word “mi” represents the meaning of diligence in design. The word “Ke” signifies overcoming and breaking through. Innovative and considerate design comes with solid scientific background research methodology that needs to overcome many obstacles. The word “Si” is a pictograph which combines a person’s mind and heart. The mind represents rationality whereas the heart symbolizes sensibility. The combination of the mind and the heart means our design corporates rationality and sensibility. The word “Bei” means to increase. To increase the meaning of design and to deepen the user experience run deep in our design. When putting the four characters together and pronouncing them, the pronunciation of the four characters sounds like “mix space” in English which means space combination." |
