| DESIGN NAME: Tactile of sense liven PRIMARY FUNCTION: Scrap Leather Furniture INSPIRATION: The design is a heart-touching blending of sense and experience; Tactile of sense liven is not just about designing furniture and home decor, but a service process as well. The elasticity, flexibility and durability of leather enables it to carry the weight of the human body while being able to be shaped freely. Breakthroughs in leather testing eliminates processing and leftover materials, allowing free disassembly of each part to minimize unnecessary part wastage! UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design is not just about designing furniture and home decor, but a service process as well. Instead of making and distributing mass produced products, we invite users to learn manufacturing process of furniture and experience with their own hands. In response to the DIY culture of contemporary society, we create an open source sequential design to invite users to participate in the design and manufacturing process freely, creating an emotional connection between the creator and creation. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The design transcends the boundaries of traditional leather crafts by making good use of elasticity, pliability and durability, as well as it is able to carry the weight of a human body while being able to be shaped freely. We redesigned the sequential leather components and introduced an open source design concept, to allow users to build their own furniture creations. The floral bud unit and the flower pistil plug in can be freely disassembled, and minimizes unnecessary part wastage. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: 450 x 500 x 900 mm Technical properties: leather crafts TAGS: Experience, Structure, Floral, Furniture, Home decoration, Leather, Crafts, Breakthrough, Open source, Design service RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In response to the contemporary DIY culture, we offer the public a new furniture concept that redefines the making of leather products by involving users in their design and creating an emotional connection, to produce the IKEA effect (where users who participate in the creation of a certain product tend to assign a greater value to the product); this new service process will encourage the prolonged use of our furniture. CHALLENGE: Breakthroughs in leather testing eliminates the process and leftover materials, while modular parts may be freely disassembled and reassembled to make customized furniture that bonds with the user during the customization process; at the same time, the creation of cutting dies reduces the time required for production. Design creates functionality. With time, good leather will gradually take on a beautiful finish and texture!
