| DESIGN NAME: Meo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Folded Cat Box INSPIRATION: The design is inspired by the art of origami, which allows the owner to quickly unfold or store the cat box by folding it. A urine mat is placed in the box, which is printed with the number of days the kitten was born and important tips on how to take care of the kitten. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a foldable cat box that can be quickly opened for the mother cat to take care of her kittens. There are creases on the surface and soft fillings inside. There is also a set of urinal pads in the box. Each pad is printed with the number of days the kitten was born and important tips, so as to timely remind the owner of the growth of the kitten and matters needing attention. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The owner opens the box according to the creases. The urinal pad is printed with the number of days the kitten was born and the corresponding matters needing attention. It is updated every day in the form of calendar to remind the owner to replace the urinal pad, ensure the cleanliness of the box, and improve the owner's sense of participation in taking care of the cat. When the cat can move freely, the box can be folded. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2018 in Beijing and finished in September 2018 in Beijing. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The outer part of the box is wrapped with felt material, and the inner part is made of soft material, which can protect cats. The urine cushion box is made of wood and the urine cushion is made of absorbent material, which can ensure the inside of the box clean. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 450mm x Depth 500mm x 250Height mm TAGS: Placement, folding, felt, wooden material, cat litter box, cat's nest, urine pad RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We fold a piece of paper into a half-open space and fold it up to put it away. The goal is to expand and fold the box with a simple folding operation. At the same time, we also summarized the important days of the cat to remind the owner not to miss the important stage, so that the owner can have a stronger sense of participation. CHALLENGE: The challenge of this research lies in how to quickly expand the cat box. We have done a number of origami experiments on the folding mode. In addition, the thickness of the pad box will affect the size of the cat box when it is stored in the design process. Therefore, we rearranged the layout according to the creases of the cat box, leaving room for a better match between the urine pad box and the cat box.
