| DESIGN NAME: Sanbao PRIMARY FUNCTION: Yacht Interior INSPIRATION: The inspiration of space comes from the story of Sanbao eunuch's Voyage thru the southeast China Sea to the western world. The name "Sanbao" derives from the famous historical allusions of Zheng He's voyage to the West. Ma Sanbao was Zheng Yuan's name. At that time, Zheng He's fleet led seven trips to the Southeast China Sea. It visited more than 30 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Arab and East Africa. It reached Somalia and Kenya as far as possible, with a voyage of more than 100,000 miles. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The 77.5 metre long and 14 metre wide super yacht Sanbao is a luxury yacht commissioned by CIMC's Foster Plaid yacht. The new conceptual creation Sanbao is the first Chinese design studio to participate in the design of super yacht above 75 metres in the world. Its achievements were displayed at Monaco Yacht Show in 2018. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The unique characteristics of wood can comfort and relax people's body and mind, and the warmth of wood can also harmonize the cold feeling of the sea. In the aspect of color display, large scale paving includes light gray color, which makes the space transparent and bright under the premise of highlighting the sense of quality. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Starting with the modern style, the project design is concise and gorgeous, and shows the exploration, curiosity and longing for a rich life. The interior design of a yacht needs to be considered in conjunction with its curved surface, space modeling, metal structure, assembled decoration and long term life at sea. Therefore, in the performance of spatial structure, the walls, roofs and floors are usually modeled with soft curves, which are spread along the main blocks by circular arcs. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total area: 960 square meters Overall Length: 77.5 m Overall Beam: 13 m Height: highest 2.69 m, lowest 2.23 m TAGS: Luxury, Yacht, Superyacht, Megayacht, Yacht Interior RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Unlike residential buildings with fixed ground, the first time a yacht project is designed, and a new field is exposed. The acquiring more knowledge about yachts is the biggest challenge. At the beginning, it took a long time to understand, collect and analyze the matters needing attention in ship decoration design. The confirmation and positioning of design concept also went through a lot of twists and turns. Later, it encountered the event of replacing ship and delaying design. Although there were many twists and turns, we finally worked together to solve the problem and completed the plan in time. CHALLENGE: It is necessary to determine hull structure, enclosure location, usable or altered areas and structures, and low ceiling height utilization. The design of floors, ceiling and walls should consider the feasibility of future processing and on site assembly. Because of the simplification of moulding, the level of moulding and material and the way of closing should be considered. Large area window opening of hull should consider the use of external landscape and viewing angle, height.
