| DESIGN NAME: Umbu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ajustable Desk Lamp INSPIRATION: We started from this simple idea that an adjustable desk lamp should always be easy and enjoyable to move: durability was the keyword. We focused to create a smooth and light movement, in every direction possible, with the most simple and resistant mechanic system. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: - An organic movement - A poetic desk lamp, an adjustable direct light. The movement is continuous and soft. A triple articulation: the stem turn to both sides and adjusts the degree of inclination. The reflector has a diverse set of movements. - Value of natural materials - A handcrafted contemporary design - an artisanal mixing brass, metal, Brazilian solid wood, and granite stone. The symbioses - touching the solid wood reflector is smooth. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The movement is continuous and soft. A triple articulation: the stem turn to both sides and adjusts the degree of inclination. The reflector has a diverse set of movements. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Brass and woodturning. MIG welding. Hand-brushed finishing for brass parts. Black lacquered for the aluminum part. Hammered Granite. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: H 35 cm L75 cm" Ø 11 cm" 1 x LED Dicróica GU10 TAGS: Handcrafted, Durable, Smooth Movement, Brazilian Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We worked for reducing frictions between parts, reaching the moment in between a smooth movement and an uncontrolled movement. CHALLENGE: Created a smooth and light movement, in every direction possible is more difficult when you seek for the most simple and strong mechanic system.
