| DESIGN NAME: Puls PRIMARY FUNCTION: Agile Furniture INSPIRATION: In the office as in the private sector, changes in life and desires for change are permanent and more and more rapid. How does this evolution affect our freedom and our planet and what answers can I give as a designer? How to be agile, capable of transformation, but also sustainable, creative, while offering great freedom? UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Puls is not a piece of furniture, it is a set of compatible parts allowing to simply mount the furniture you want. Puls is a bookcase, simple or double, but it's also a bench, a desk to work on alone or for two, a meetings table for the office, a windscreen, an office partition, shelving units, a cabinet, a support for presentations, a wardrobe, an easel, a workbench, etc. Puls is every one of the above and all of them at the same time. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Puls is a furniture project to be imagined, assembled and transformed as many times as desired. There's only one limitation, our individual creativity. Puls is imagination, creation, projection, an experience, therefore confidence, the pleasure of playing, the test and learn, appropriation and collaboration. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Puls was designed early 2018 - Rennes, France. The last prototype was made in August 2018. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Entirely fabricated using C.N.C. wood machine, Puls is made of 21mm birch plywood. Nothing else. This woodworking tool, the C.N.C., is available all over the world. Puls can therefore be made closer to its future owner, avoiding the cost of pollution and of the transport. Puls don't used screws, nuts, bolts, adhesive... PULS is ergonomic, sustainable, C.S.R., easy to assemble, to take apart. But first and foremost Puls is distinctive, practical and fun. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Exemple of carton volume for visuel 1 : 1500/800/100mm. The mechanical properties of birch plywood are great: light, very resistant and sustainable. TAGS: Furniture, transformable, agile, design, desk, fun, creative, sustainable RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The search for durable materials for agile and simple furniture giving us more freedom and ergonomics, required a demand for details and finishes. Puls is design in the way of Dieter Rams "innovative, useful, aesthetic, simple, humble, honest, sustainable, finished, eco-friendly, minimalist". The freedoms of assembly, storage, transformation offer new opportunities for companies, and offer them a new tool Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility. CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was to forget all known assembly principles. The amounts pierced with multiple crosses to increase the possibilities of compositions and offer the maximum compatibility. The first prototype mounted was an office; it was there, beautiful, simple. He quickly found himself dismounted and reassembled in another piece of furniture, again disassembled, reassembled; during 10 days of shooting. For the team it has been 10 days of childhood, of exigency and pleasure.
