| DESIGN NAME: Monos Carry-On PRIMARY FUNCTION: Suitcase INSPIRATION: We wanted to create an understated design that makes a statement. So, we started by slowing down to mindfully look around us. We studied the ripples in water when it rained. We observed the colour gradations in the sky when the sun rose and set each day. And in all these moments, we found a common visual rhythm. We distilled and refined this rhythm into the minimalist, asymmetric progression of lines that would become our luggage's signature design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We set out to create a beautifully minimalist suitcase that performs exceptionally well - first and foremost - as a suitcase. While there are plenty of flashy, tech-laden suitcases on the market, we focused our efforts on the essentials that matter most, and we worked to make them better - with modern, unobtrusive aesthetics; premium quality materials and parts; and thoughtfully designed, durably crafted components. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our case is built with aerospace-grade polycarbonate, a nearly unbreakable material that is hard and durable, yet lightweight and flexible. Turning tradition on its head, our sleek telescopic handle has its release button cleverly hidden on the underside rather than the top, which makes engaging the release feel more natural and ergonomic. The custom telescoping assembly is engineered with high-grade aluminum telescoping tubes set at opposing angles to reduce unwanted lateral and torsional movement.
