| DESIGN NAME: Aura Dome PRIMARY FUNCTION: Camping INSPIRATION: Aura Dome is inspired by the shape of igloos that beneath the starry night. With the clear acrylic glasses material, which is selected not only for the un-fragile and waterproof functionalities, but it is also easy to maintain and clean up. At first sight, the space is divided by the dome is actually softly connected with the nature. It's easy for people to get lost in Hong Kong's busy lifestyle, the designer wishes to create an area that people can take some time touring around the outdoor with their beloved one, capture the beauty of life by enjoying the fancy joyful time with their friends and family. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Hong Kong is an international city with the all-time social issue Lack of Land Supply, most of the residential apartment could only be like a shoe-box size nowadays. Yet, living in the concrete jungle could also pursue happiest. Therefore, the designer aimed to create an outdoor camping spatial Aura Dome in the magnificent garden, as the intention is to build a functional area, which provides the opportunity for the users to enjoy the primitive happiest by getting closer to nature. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The operation was to find the proper supplier, we had quoted for the regarding product in different countries first, then selected one of the best suppliers at last. We also interacted with the client by explaining the idea of applying the lighting effect on the product after the acrylic model arrived. So that to create a fantasy emotion for our client. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2018 and finished in August 2018 in Hong Kong. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Acrylic glasses with LED lighting SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 4500 mm dia x 2800 mm H TAGS: Camping, Outdoor, Family, Joy, Nature, Happiest, Magnificent, Starry Night, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Kira team members did not encounter any particular challenges during the development of “Aura Dome”. CHALLENGE: As building a dome is a very new idea to our clients and our contractor team members as they never see it before in Hong Kong. The process of convening our client to take this new idea and cooperate with our contractors was the main challenges for us.
