| DESIGN NAME: Urban Streetscape PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office Design INSPIRATION: In the densest areas of Hong-Kong, the pedestrian environment is largely composed of narrow sidewalks with high flows of foot traffic. We working a streetscape into a office to create a work environment that encourages people to gather , socialize and most importantly feel relaxed. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Our design concept brings the exterior and outdoor elements into the interior to allow users of this space to feel as if they're outdoors, creating a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of an quiet urban streetscape. In addition, we have designed the executive offices to be individual shops and treated the design like a shopfront. The offices are fitted with a large glass panel which allows for visual transparency yet maintain a certain degree of acoustic isolation. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We base on limited budget to choose a subtitle material for this project, with short period construction. we need to consider contracting fee and re-reinstatement cost, it is the big challenge for us. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The long wooden strips would not fit the lift, finally,our construction team make it on site. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Flat size: 200msq, 7 rooms, 58 pax. TAGS: Officedesign, Hongkong, Spatialdesign, Rootdesign, Rootdesignhk RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We based in Hong Kong and understand what Hong Kong people actual needed. Over crowed street make people feel annoying, we can't enjoy to stay and walk around on street , long working time with standard office design make people feel bore that why we have this idea come out. CHALLENGE: Bring in urban street elements , sunlight into interior office space to make feel like a exterior. we have to consider the existing air-condition, fire sprinkler head location to reduce the budget. Also we need to fulfill different user needed, also take care of the guests feeling. flexible setting for functional changes. With the very tight budget and schedule, we design & built only takes 1.5 months only. NAME: Root Design Hong Kong Limited PROFILE: Hong Kong start up design firm by few experience spatial designers & architects. Our vision and goal is to explore the interdisciplinary aspects and relationships between visual arts and spatial design. As a form of applied arts with spatial design at the core, we hope to bridge the connection between art and space. Our goal is to study and create unique spaces and designs that provide a spatial phenomenology or invoke a unique spatial experience for the users through a variety of materials, media, and technology. In addition to our own study of interdisciplinary art and spatial design, we hope to provide a platform for local artists to also participate, engage, and contribute to the process of spatial design. |
