| DESIGN NAME: Home PRIMARY FUNCTION: Necklace INSPIRATION: Human beings can identify their own characteristics in many natural objects, whether they are animate or inanimate. We look for unconscious complexes and happiness in nature, looking for representations of symbolic representations.Tree UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The work is made by hand.The ebony carved part symbolizes the power of the man's confidence, protect and tightly wraps the inner part, as well as the trace of natural forces.The light colored wood is pregnant with the crystal that wraps the grasses, it symbolizes mother's embrace and protection, and new life that grows from the inside out.This piece is jointly created by my wife and me, when she was pregnant for 7 months, it represents the image of home, mother's care, it is token of our love. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: I like making jewelry with wood, the timber is from the living tree, that will not only make people feel warm, but also can be retained for a long time. Besides, the structure of wood fiber will make it extremely strong and maintain its sense of life when carving .The large-size jewelry made of timber, which looks heavy but wears light,and full of tension.It is the miniature sculpture that cooperates to wear. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2012 and finished in September 2012 in Han Dong Studio in Beijing. It has been exhibited at the New York artexpo2013,Beijing International Jewelry Art Biennial2013 and 2015. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Most of this work uses the method of engraving, while using the inlay technique in the jewelry, the upper part of the necklace uses the weaving process. The materials used in this piece of work are very diverse, Some of them are age old. I use them not for their value but for they're full and unique modelling,have intense artistic tensity, I combine them in shells, wood and other materials. Ancient jade bird,ancient jade Canal,jade beads,ancient bronzes,ancient copper,bells,conch,c SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 80mm x Depth 30mm x Height 500mm TAGS: jewellery, jewelry, Necklace, Wood, handmade,crystal RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The works involve some ancient Chinese handicraft works.For these materials,I conducted in-depth research.Hoping brings people a new awareness of these ancient techniques, a sense of love and freedom,a awakening of the contemporary awe of nature, and some primitive memories hidden within us. CHALLENGE: All parts are hand-carved completed, The production process is very tight and risky, I hope to present the material in a natural state. Therefore, which needs to take into account the inner tension that support the light-colored wood to stand, the tightening force that protecting and wrapping the small crystal wood, and the years, wind, sun drying crack all kinds of nature on the force of the wood.
