| DESIGN NAME: StagE PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cinema INSPIRATION: StagE is a new brand of Golden Harvest Cinema that is situated inside a shopping mall. The design was highly inspired by the design of the theatre house. The concept is to combine 20th Century French Art Deco with a Contemporary style in the cinema design, giving a fresh brand new experience to the guests. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To provide an exclusive experience, ARTTA applied theatrical design concept within the cinema houses. This creates a harmonised and solemn atmosphere to allow the audience to indulge in the movie and not just as an entertainment but also an artistic activity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In this cinema design, ARTTA has combined 20th Century French Art Deco with a Contemporary style to give a brand new experience to the guests. ARTTA has designed a huge deformed Chandelier as the main feature of the box office, the light casts reflections on the floor and ceiling to diffuse artistic atmosphere throughout the interior. Ultimately creating a grand and elegant attraction focus point in the design. At the back of the box office, customers may sneak peek the VIP room called BackstagE, where craft glass and crude wood interior are used as an insulation layer, creating a looming effect which triggers customer’s curiosity and ambitions. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Clean, simple linings and clear-cut patterns are adopted to correspond with natural marble and wooden materials. To create a modern dynamic interior space, the use of metal and crafted glass in the details take the whole design to another level by indulging a unique Art Deco style to the cinema. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: No. of Houses: 4 No. of Seats: 489 GFA: 1400 SQM TAGS: StagE, cinema, GoldenHarvest, opera, cinemahouse, theatre RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To incorporate the theatrical design to the cinema interior, the designers have researched on the design of opera houses and music theatres. CHALLENGE: In this project, ARTTA would like to infuse the theatrical design to the interior. The challenge was that space is located inside a modern shopping mall and it was quite difficult to give the theatre ambiance. Moreover, the ceiling is too low so the designers have to seek for solutions to create depth.
