| DESIGN NAME: Living Scenes of Jiangnan PRIMARY FUNCTION: Public Amenities INSPIRATION: This is the interior design plan for the congregate housing, which is composed of the Jiangnan-style architectural elements. The design of outdoor landscape, inspired from that of Suzhou garden, consistently parallels with the building exterior and indoor public area so that the continuance and consolidation of design skills replicate the spectacular Jiangnan natural landscapes surrounding the building. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Chinese pavilion and Taihu stones, decorated in the courtyard landscaping, are imported from China. The gorgeous outdoor landscaping, incorporating the small Chinese bridge, flowing stream and plants, duplicates the enchanting traditional Chinese courtyard landscapes. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The public area in the building is designed on the basis of Chinese culture and Western facilities encompassing the gym, bar, lounge, banquet room, reading room, etc. that synthesize the contemporary style, as well as the Chinese architectural and courtyard elements. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The cultured stones comprehensively decorated on the walls congruously correspond to the outdoor white walls and back roof tiles perceived from the Jiangnan-style architectures. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The space is 661 square meters TAGS: Interior Design,Public amenities,Space RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The vista composed of the serpentine stones and vintage furniture is adorned at the front entrance. The circular pattern on the wall and the round lattice screens produce the design effect of “borrowed scenery” that the elegant colors and sofas ingeniously integrate the sophisticated and neat styles. In the building, the contemporary and classical Chinese elements of design bring out the best in each other. CHALLENGE: Distinct from the general western style bars, the bar in this building is decorated with marble counters and iron craftsmanship that exhibit the neat lines. The dark green walls, meanwhile, highlight the oriental charms. The gym is decorated with the wooden grilles and Chinese window lattices that, by means of using clear glass and window lattices, artistically develop the scenic views in the house. The design ideas applying the composite materials, elegant contemporary and Qing style furniture, and eight-scenes of Suzhou gardening have spectacularly constructed the modern oriental building.
