DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Mondrian

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Jewelry

INSPIRATION:
One of my jewelry lines is inspired by and dedicated to great masters and their works: Renoir, Van Gogh, Bol, Matisse, Klee, Calder, Miro and latest - Mondrian. Since this year the world celebrates 100 years of Bauhaus, with this work I pay respect to one of its members, Mondrian.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This jewelry collection is dedicated to Mondrian and his most famous works. The collection is composed of brooches, pendants and necklaces, both short and long ones. It is made of laser-cut Acrylic plates, rubber and silver tone chain. Inspired by art, these pieces are wearable art themselves. This is statement jewelry intended for bold both women and men.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
There are two types of necklaces: short, made of rubber and magnetic clasps and long necklaces where pieces are connected with thin silver tone links and a lobster clasp closes the necklace. Brooches have 40 mm pins on the back.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This Mondrian design has been improved for years. It is something that I always come back to. Mondrian's paintings are simple, but that is something that makes the task of transforming them into jewelry challenging. Here is presented the final version, finished during the last four month.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
I have been designing and making Acrylic jewelry for years. Since I am a painter ( by proffesion and education ), art is my main domaine of interest and work. That is why I have created a collection of jewelry pieces dedicated to famous artists. I use lacer - cut Acrylic plates, rubber, magnetic clasps and silver colored chain to link some pieces together. Acrylic has bright, vivid colors which are great for transforming paintings into jewelry.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
80 x 80 x 6 mm

TAGS:
Mondrian, jewelry, hommage, wearable art, brooch, necklace, Acrylic

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
I have been exploring Mondrian's work for years, trying to find the key for transfering his paintings into 3D wearable art. The task seams simple, but it is not. I was measuring the colored surfaces on Mondrian's paintings and their relations to black stripes. Thinking "out of the box", I found the right proportion for transfering Mondrian's shapes into jewelry.

CHALLENGE:
Transforming famous artist's paintings into jewelry, transforming art into wearable art is a demanding and responsible task. It is not simple to make an artistic piece of jewelry inspired by art itself , to manage to give a new quality to it and not to deminish the original artistic work's value
