| DESIGN NAME: Andromeda PRIMARY FUNCTION: Showroom INSPIRATION: Inspired by the glimmering diamonds and pearl plates on full dress under the light of runway, Tammy came up with the idea of achieving the effect of mottled light and shadow by sticking the artistic glass to the mirror. Starry sky dream of client since her childhood, irregular design of the full dress, multiple experimental conclusions and semi hazy fabrics of Tammy, such as laces and organza, provide the sources of inspiration for different spatial designs. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Combining design elements of full dress with starry sky dream of client, Tammy boldly lets the light of white dots penetrate through the irregular aluminum plates with holes. The staggering and meteorite like dots of light on gratings and the glass with star patterns on the facade constitute a starry sky themed futuristic sales and exhibition store. With glass, natural light and mirror, an innovative design with the effect of mottled light and shadow is created. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Customers can use the remote control for quick mode switch of the dressing room in the first floor to an exhibition hall, which greatly increases the utilization rate. Two ends of the second floor are designed with the dressing room for the convenience of dress changing of customers.The posters and television in the showcase can attract the attention of pedestrians to this brand. The glass partitions are in different directions to contain more full dresses and to increase sales volume. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Starting in March 2018 in Shanghai, this project got completed in August 2018, and officially started operation in September 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Materials: Mainly punched aluminum plates, white gratings, multiple glasses, mirrors, stainless steel, leather, floors, wood facing and multiple stone materials. The stone materials and the full piece of mirror vertical to the ground have their edge wrapped by 5*5mm indent stainless steel. The leather and aluminum plates hide the edges insides through folding to make the appearance concise. Track is hidden on the corresponding roof of adjustable reflector lamp. Position, angle and softness of light can be adjusted as required. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The cross-section of white gratings is divided into two specifications: 20*20mm and 20*40mm, which vary in length. The large aluminum plate is filled with holes whose diameter ranges from 0.8mm to 1.5mm. Every piece of aluminum plate features different dimensions and shape, ranging from 1m to 4m. Angle consistency is first maintained on the largest aluminum plate, which is then cut into two layers to facilitate processing, transportation and installation and also enrichment of aluminum plate division on the ceiling. TAGS: A,Crystal palace, B,Sense of science-fiction, C,Mottled light and shadow, D,Flickering, E,Starry sky, F,Extravagance, G,Elegance, H,Irregular punched aluminum plat, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Experiment: 1.Cast the flashlight on the water surface on a piece of smooth mirror; 2.Use the flashlight to illuminate the flowing water; 3.Cast the flashlight onto the uneven clay sculpture paved with silver paper. Results: Effects of Experiment 1 outperform the other two. Conclusion: Tammy decides to adopt a simpler method: Influence: The final expression not only reflects the theme, but also cuts the engineering cost and construction period for the client, thus lowering overall cost. CHALLENGE: Design, sampling, customization, installation and effect realization of the irregular aluminum plates on the ceiling should be finished with tight schedule and low budget. It takes around two months to finish customization and half day of a worker to install one aluminum plate. The inconsistent top pipeline height requires precise measurement. Hardware facilities are installed on aluminum plates to facilitate follow up maintenance and disassembly. To achieve effects of facade glass, Tammy and the construction team experimented for many times.
