| DESIGN NAME: Elegant Outline PRIMARY FUNCTION: Trash Bin INSPIRATION: In China, we spent nearly two months studying trash bin in the office and we found a very interesting design phenomenon － office people do not always prepare a new trash bag for replacement. They might just put a plastic carry bag beside a full trash bin, or carefully put the trash on top of it even the trash will fall to the ground. Obviously, "nobody care about it", but the cleaner. They carry a lot of new trash bags for whole building and replace them one by one. We came up with this idea to make the cleaner’s work easier. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Hang the trash bag roll on the bottom of the bin, pull and fix a bag on the top. When one bag is full, recycle it and pull up the new one. This trash bin is simply designed and easy to use, avoiding the trouble to find trash bags. The "U" shape design fits for any kinds of plastic carry bags. It is not only designed for trash bag roll, but also for encouraging people to use plastic carry bags. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Shenzhen in October 2017 and ended in May 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It is formed by bending of aluminum alloy, and the entire-main unit treated by anodized finish. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: product size：290*190*300 mm, package size：330*198*321mm TAGS: Minimalism, Integration, Ultra-light, Metal, Environmental Protection, Bag & Bin integration RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The way to fix the reel garbage bag is a difficult point in our design. Since the diameter and width of the drum of the garbage bag are different, the diameter of the whole garbage bag changes even during use. We bought a variety of bags and made a lot of attempts to ensure that the fixing way is strong enough without affecting the balance. One the other hand, we sent this design to do consumer insight testing for design improvement and the feedback is positive because this simple structure design can adopt two types of bag (roll bag and plastic hand carry bag).
