DESIGN NAME: Sunrising
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design
INSPIRATION: The public area in front of the residence is open space. In the private area, the designer has changed the floor plan from four bedrooms to three bedrooms. In addition to the master bedroom and the second bedroom, the designer also created an elegant washitsu which is raised a few steps.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The vitality of the space comes from wooden texture, bright colors, quietly atmosphere ,and various plants indoors. Combining Japanese pattern with modern lifestyle, a clearly structured residential experience that has been presented the essence of "Sunrising".
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The indoor space pull in warm colors through the wooden floor. The TV wall of the living room made by exposed concrete responds the calmness atmosphere. The couch besides windows is full of the natural light and the storage function. Large potted plants and tea trays are embeded on the couch. Behind the sofa seat, there is reserved space for the piano and bookcase where the owners enjoy lovely music and reading. The beam separates the two spaces in the public area, and shows the corridor through the whole rooms. The dining space on the left side is simple and elegant. The owners enjoy their meal under a bright "sunrising" wall which is made by the red cast stone and used to be a visual focus.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in November 2018 in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: While the space released, the owners have more deeper living room, and a new dressing room belonged to the master bedroom. Space function is given first priority in this residence which is designed in fresh Japanese style.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Along the corridor of the teak texture ceiling, there are many commemorative calendar pages hanging on both sides of the wall. At the end of the corridor is a washitsu with tatami on the floor which is raised a few steps.
CHALLENGE: The washitsu ornamented with wooden grilles enlarges the indoor space. The looming light and shadow adds the beauty of the corridor. Unlike the bright living room, the calm colors create the elegant and tranquil atmosphere of the Japanese-style washitsu.
