UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Operation is easy and normally done by post-services since packages are not very voluminous and light.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The serie - Seilschaften -started in autumn 2015 and was first exhibited in BKV-Gallery, Munic in September 2018 and hopefully will carry on for a while. Contact for orders or further communication is my address: Gabriele Kutschera, Kösslwang 22, A-4654 Bad Wimsbach, or E-Mail: gabriele@atelier-kutschera.com

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
All my jewelry items are handmade in conventional goldsmith technique. The aim is to integrate prefabricated metal material into experimental jewelry to raise the individual look of the wearer. After Diploma of University of Applied Art, Vienna, as freelanced artist I started by integrating metal fabric (brass and steel) - Gitterspiele, 1973 - 1980, dental wire, (used in medicine) - Fuhler und Antennen, 1980 - 1983, hand-painted aluminium, Alubunt - 1984/85, (back to the roots), forging precious and non precious metals, - Schwingungen, Insignien, Sonne, Mond und Mars, 1986 - 2015, stainless steel cords of very thin dimension now used in - Seilschaften, 2015 up to now. Especially the steel cord allows very 3 dimensional jewelry design by its flexibility so it might not be damaged worn under coats or jackets. The carrying elements are made of prefabricated brass tubes but can also be produced in precious metals as gold or silver depending on the clients request and the amount of investment.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
See production and realization technology

CHALLENGE:
Up to 2000 in Austria we had a very rigid maker-identification-law (Punzierungsgesetz) that did not allow a soldered binding of precious and non precious metals the, artists had to find either solutions by not soldering or not using precious metals. In my case I found a solution by using only mechanical bindings so in the eyes of the law precious and non-precious metals could be separated. This technique somehow became part of my design so I continue this making especially when I use for example forged iron elements with gold or silver elements. Within the -Seilschaften- serie I can avoid this kind of complication since the ends of the steel cord are glued to the holding construction.
