DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
The Ink Of Life

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Fading Pencils

INSPIRATION:
The background of this design is that we observed that when people use pencils, there will be imagination about pencil consumption and transformation. The consumption of pencils is actually what we are trying to create, and we always hope that the result of this kind of creation is good. Therefore, we create a kind of beautiful disappearance to present the poetic imagination of consumption, so that people can feel the beautiful shape change and the beautiful imagination of pencil.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This is a pencil from black to white.Firstly, when consumed, the black feeling gradually fades on the pen, as if the "ink of life" of the pencil is gradually receding, showing a beautiful disappearance. It is very natural and poetic which makes people think of pencil transformation, that the consumption of good thing will turn into the same good things. Besides, the dark part is always at the writing end. When used as an indicator, it can attract people's immediate attention to the dark park.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When you use this pencil, the beautiful disappearance process will make you happy, at the same time, the beautiful disappearance will indicate that you will have good things to produce, so that you are more looking forward to the work of your pencil.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in June 2018 at the guangzhou academy of fine arts and finished in September 2018 at the guangzhou academy of fine arts.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Colour the surface of the pencil and add a coat of varnish

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
I observe and think about the way people use products in their life, and try to find the behavior or emotional transition between people subconsciously. Then, I will have subliminal emotional reinforcement conducive to product experience, and bring people suitable and novel products. Generally speaking, I will think about myself first, then pass the research, and finally test the finished product. I believe that products designed in accordance with people's subconscious can not only meet people's use habits, but also make people feel that such novel experience can resonate.

CHALLENGE:
The hardest part is exploring the extent of the gradient. From black to white is not a uniform distribution of black and white, in order to present this uniform beauty, the last black part is the least, followed by the white part, and the middle gray part is the most.

PROFILE:
This is a design for people who use pencils a lot. There are some emotional changes that occur in their use of the pencil, and these emotional changes are an image of a good outcome. As the pencils get shorter and disappear during their use, they will feel that the disappearance is worth and beautiful, because it indicates that the final work they have made is almost finished. So they can feel pleasure and satisfaction in the process.
