| DESIGN NAME: Glimmer PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table Lamp INSPIRATION: Glimmer is an exquisite bedside lamp, inspired by the childhood memory of the designer. Lantern is a symbol in the childhood memory of our generation and can arouse our emotional resonance. Moreover, lantern is a classic element in the oriental aesthetics.It's made of porcelain which is a traditional Chinese material, as gentle as a jade. However, average porcelain cannot meet the process requirements of this lamp. Finally, the designer chose eggshell porcelain from Jingdezhen,china. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A bedside lamp which is inspired by Chinese lanterns. Its elegant shaped contours highlight the translucent nature of the lighting body made of eggshell porcelain in Jingdezhen, China. The fantastic visual experience between light and porcelain creates a comfortable and quiet space with soft light. And the leather handle with superb hand feeling, the beech base, and the ceramic lampshade are perfectly combined to possess both form and function. The best interprets modern oriental aesthetics. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Its elegant shaped contours highlight the translucent nature of the lighting body made of eggshell porcelain in Jingdezhen, China. The fantastic visual experience between light and porcelain creates a comfortable and quiet space with soft light. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in Hangzhou in April 2014, was completed in Hangzhou in August 2017 and was exhibited at The 22nd China International Furniture Expo in October 2016. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: eggshell porcelain,beech,leat SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: width155mmxdepth155m TAGS: Table lamp, porcelain,wood,leath RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research on the modern interpretation of traditional Chinese crafts, trying to present the traditional ceramic technology on the lighting products by using modern processing techniques, through the investigation and research of Chinese traditional ceramic technology, using design thinking to reinterpret the modern interpretation of traditional materials. Sexuality, through design, allows users to more fully understand the possibility of traditional materials and processes in the present, and promote the upgrading of traditional industries. CHALLENGE: Glimmer's lampshade is made of porcelain which is a traditional Chinese material, as gentle as a jade. However, average porcelain cannot meet the process requirements of this lamp. Finally, the designer chose eggshell porcelain from Jingdezhen, the captial of porcelain. The perfect effect now is derived from a lot of tests on material strength and illumination effect and several failures.
