PRIMARY FUNCTION: Childhood Developmental Toy
INSPIRATION: In this digital age, children are overexposed with technology. Breaking this pattern and bringing them back to physical interaction is crucial.
With Fastener Block, children can boost creativity by building character/s with Fastener Block and narrate imaginative stories.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Fastener Block is a childhood developmental toy. It helps Boost fine motor skills for 3-5-year olds through imaginative and creative play. In this digital age, children are overexposed with technology. Breaking this pattern and bringing them back to physical interaction is crucial. Fastener Block uses natural wood and fabric with everyday fasteners like snaps, buttons and an innovative mechanical lock to help fortify the use of smaller muscles in hands, fingers, and wrist
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Children can boost creativity by building character/s with Fastener Block and narrate imaginative stories.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 10 wooden blocks and 20 Fabric-Fastener pieces in a single set of Fastener Block toy.

NAME: Nish Gupta
PROFILE: Fastener Block was designed at ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena, California by Nishit "Nish" Gupta. It was designed for a second-semester class with a design brief - Developmental Toys for Kids.
Nish Gupta is an award-winning Industrial Designer from India. He graduated from ArtCenter College of design in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Product Design.
As a Product Designer, Nish truly aspires to influence and create positive change in the world. Through his designs, He aims to help people and organizations to visualize a positive future and an uplifting lifestyle. He believes that innovation comes through a collaboration between people from different disciplines. Innovation is not just a business buzzword, it is about creating valuable change.
Throughout his development as a Designer, He has concluded that good design is inclusive and user-centered. He always designs with empathy for the consumers once he truly understands their needs, problems, and journey.
Nish has worked at HP inc. as an innovation industrial design intern. His work at HP included a full spectrum of industrial design work, from ideation sketch to concept to final design, analysis of the global markets, the evolution of people, and their needs. He has also participated in multiple Sponsored projects with multinational companies like Adidas, Under Armour and HP inc.
In addition to A’ Design Award, Nishit Gupta has won 3 IDA Silver Awards and 1 IDA Bronze Award for Fastener block – Developmental toy. In the categories, Toys for pre-school learning, toys for 3-6 Years old, children Products and educational toys.
