| DESIGN NAME: Leedon Residence Garden Suite PRIMARY FUNCTION: Luxury Home INSPIRATION: Modern luxury that is reminiscent to the glamorous era of the Great Gatsby. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is a large private apartment with 2 storeys, a 7m height ceiling in the living and dining areas, and a private swimming pool. With a total of 5 bedrooms, this is the Garden Suite within a prestigious condominium development. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The 7-metre high marble-clad wall with polished grey-chrome trimmings is the main feature of the living space. Coupled with a pair Barovier&Toso Torpedo chandeliers, the large and expansive living space exudes stature and luxury that rivals a six-star hotel lobby. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Leedon Residence is located within one of the most affluent enclaves in Singapore. The project duration was one year. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The extensive use of mirrored finish grey-chrome metal trimmings lends an ultra-luxury look to the entire residence. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Leedon Residence is a 8,000 square feet high-end luxury private residence. TAGS: luxury interior, luxury design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: For the 7-metre wall, the concept was to use geometric shapes to represent the twelve calendar months. Twelve specially selected Nero Marquina marble slabs were installed within polished grey-chrome frames. Over each slab, diamond-shaped brass frames brings emphasis and accent to each of the twelve marble slabs. CHALLENGE: The challenge was in executing the highly detailed 7-metre marble-clad wall. The entire wall was constructed first with welded metal supports, overlaid with solid plywood and finally clad with CNC-cut/bent polished metal trimmings. The entire process took over two months of painstaking work, fully built and assembled by hand. NAME: Ed Ong PROFILE: Dwell Interior Design was founded by Ed Ong in 2005. The strength of Ed and his team is in creating fine interiors for private residences. With extensive experience in landed homes, Ed's clients have also engaged him in the architecture of houses in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. On the commercial front in 2010, Ed was the first Asian designer to be appointed as the creative lead for the design of Blum's showrooms across Southeast Asia. Blum is a worldwide European MNC that manufactures furniture fittings used by most luxury brands. This collaboration spanned 2 years and saw the roll-out of its new showrooms in Singapore, Jakarta, Surabaya, Ho Chi Minh and Manila. Dwell's strengths and success owes largely to Ed's philosophy that that talent is meant to serve. He takes time to listen and understand the client. Ed believes that trust is the foundation of the client-designer relationship. And the team works hard to earn and keep that trust. Another of Dwell's edge is that it works with craftsmen, service providers and suppliers who are the best in the trade. This ensures a high degree of quality control and timely completion for each project. Dwell is located within an award-winning heritage conservation house in River Valley, Singapore. |
