DESIGN NAME: Yin Chiku
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant
INSPIRATION: Before this project, Yin Chiku had several branches in hangzhou and was a mature Japanese brand. In addition to the positioning of building a new flagship, the designer pays more attention to the depth of the brand and the brand understanding of Japanese material culture.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a Japanese cuisine restaurant located in Hangzhou,China. It is different with bright and lively commercial space. The dining-room front hall in this case choses to white space for display space. Low contrast color selection, soft lighting, and smooth shape lines, reduce the sense of existence of space decoration.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The gap between the shoji door and the platform makes a good airflow passage, which ensures the air circulation in the restaurant.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2017 in Hangzhou and finished in November 2017 in Hangzhou.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lobby is simplified and used to separate the space with a warm curtain. Diners connect with each other. The small box is a concentrated traditional Japanese residence building, each space is independent from each other to avoid the resonant disturbance. Long table rooms are the simplest and most complex, it only has long tables, square chairs, and the elimination of the roof line without shadow wall. The corridor window forms an interesting visual connection with the shopping mall. Passersby can see the customers in the store and the scenery of the restaurant.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project area is 350 square meters. Wood, copper, iron, and textured paint close to clay are the most common materials used by Japanese hand craftsmen. Tatami room is a symbol in Japanese traditional architecture. Its style is simple, but the details of the design is very rigorous. This case gave full play to building grey, and produced some dramatic details.

CHALLENGE: Copper plates are made using Japanese hand-crafted wood hammer techniques, it often by traditional craftsmen, which are rarely found in Chinese factories. In order to ensure the overall effect, the designer made many sample comparisons and attempts, and searched almost all over China. Finally, with the help of technicians in Tianjin, he realized the technology originally conceived.
