DESIGN NAME: EarthQuick Educative Game App
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Educative Game App for Children
INSPIRATION: There is a widely believed notion that earthquake is not far from us. People could hear enormous news about it, and it can cause huge damage to human beings physically and mentally. Under this circumstance, how to self protect during the earthquake is really crucial for children. The earlier they learn the better they will react when it happens.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: “EARTHQUICK” is the proposed interactive mobile application to teach children how to prepare for the coming of an earthquake. The goal of this application uses interactive games to teach children how to protect themselves during the earthquake. “EARTHQUICK” will enhance children's awareness of self-protection. The design is colorful and interactive, which will fit the user interface for young age users.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: By utilizing gamify visual interaction and a vivid color scheme, this app will be easily adapted to children. In this project, it provides an interactive way for children to learn, including playing small games, short animations, and music, etc. These interactive programs can attract children to get involved and also cultivate their independence during the emergency.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project took about 8 months and designed in San Francisco, California

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: There is a lot of research done on this application before the design process. Adobe XD, Illustrator, Photoshop and Sketch are used to create the actual layout and designs. Moreover, the team did an in-depth data analytics and research to make sure the design is focused to the market.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This design is based on iPad size and IOS system.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Based on research, 75% people are aware of the natural disaster but not yet learned the proper skills to self protect during the time. When an earthquake happens, to run is not always the best idea. There are other skills and tricks can save more lives. However, only 13% of the population would actually learn and update knowledge. By utilizing game as a platform, to not only entertain but also educate the users to learn the skills can save them in time.
CHALLENGE: The primary target audience of EARTHQUICK are children who need to learn the knowledge about the earthquake, and also they like playing games. They are willing to play educational games and have interests on an earthquake. To keep them engaging and have fun is the most challenge part of this design.
