| DESIGN NAME: Awards Presentation and Music Show PRIMARY FUNCTION: Achievement Presentation INSPIRATION: Since the event reflects the activities of the past year, the execution of the stage needed to match these achievements in its presentation so that all parts of the event integrate fully. There had to be a flexibility in the look for different presentations and performances. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The stage gave the environment for a concert as well as for presenting the achievements of the past year and giving a preview of the new year's plans. Since this required different looks of the stage with the same set pieces, we built them internally lit and we were then able to change the look with changing the lighting. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The stage needs to look appropriate for one speaker and for 100 people on stage and it needs to be flexible enough to have a music show happening at the same event. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It took us 2 months to get the stage built and the event done. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The stage has to be able to change the look for the different presentations and for different music shows, we therefore built RGB LEDs within the set pieces. We built metal structures and attached wood and Styrofoam. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The event was in the Shrine Auditorium and the stage was fit for this location. The proscenium arch of the Shrine is one of the biggest in the USA, therefore our pillars were 37' tall. TAGS: Award, stage, event, presentation, celebration, concert, show RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The content of the event is determining the look of the stage. There are multiple achievements presented which reflects the activities of the past year and the style of the stage needs to match the content and give a proper frame for the presentations. CHALLENGE: The hardest part was to have a fast change over from different presentations and from speakers to a concert look and still have a unique look for each presentation. NAME: Scientology Media Productions PROFILE: As part of Scientology Media Productions, the Sets & Props shop is producing stages for international events with the purpose to integrate the look of the stage with the overall concept of the event. The Sets & Props shop is an automated machine shop, we program a robot and 5-axis CNC machines to cut out our designs and then assemble the pieces, get internal lighting into the set pieces, make them easy to load in and to assemble and overall make sure that the look is achieved that had been envisioned by the Art Director. As there are only 6 crew members in the shop, these 6 need to be efficient to get the items made in time for the shipping. |
