DESIGN NAME: Social Fun
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House
INSPIRATION: Social interaction starts with dining, which is closely related to life. Through the integration of space design, dining function, and the meaning of social interaction, multiple layers define different life dimensions. Through the negotiation of the media and styles, the perspectives of social interaction, family, and personal belonging are extended from the bottom to the top.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To follow the flow of the staircase makes life circle around dining. With the concept of making a home closer to a commercial space, the inspiration for the first floor is the American bar to construct a lively field for social interaction. The second floor connects the diverse characteristics of the modern eating habits, making the kitchen the core and forming a social interaction situation exclusively for a small family.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In this space, there are the structural problems of fragmental corners and fractional windows all over the construction. We arrange the frame views between the pillars to form the end scenes of exhibition one by one and add the shelves to fill the blanks from fragments. We also make sure the light path of each window so that the light from the front and from the back can meet to achieve the best flow and lighting. The staircase connects the first floor bar and the second-floor home kitchen. The kitchen on the second floor replaces the living room and divides into the functions of dining table, frying kitchen, and bar without over focusing on the limited area of each division to create the scenes of interaction.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The first floor features the American bar. The L-shape bar and sofa are arranged to guarantee the more flexible accommodation. We also make room for the ample aisle and create the frame view with the fireplace, neon lights, and display wine cabinet to connect the fun façade expression. The wooden shutters are applied to integrate the windows to keep the lighting flow of the long-shape space and the privacy when it is necessary. Lively but not crowded, comforting but not dim, the most comfortable scene of receiving guests is measured. For the second floor, the social interaction area for the family, the linear iron parts introduce the modern expression and contribute to the flow of the light without any obstacle. Starting from the dining room, the layout develops into two flows of the kitchen and the living room. The sink, refrigerator, and dish washing machine are placed out, which blurs the existing boundary between cooking and dining. Under the framework of the Northern European style, the private field is accompanied by some mobile furniture so that the users can lean on the small table by the window and taste the afternoon tea, enjoying the leisure time.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Through the connection of the staircase, life starts from social interaction and diet. By filling up the fragments between the structural pillars in the construction with the end scenes, shelves, or cabinets, we create the abundant display frame views. At the same time, by following the usage of each plane, we divide each function carefully without over-limiting the boundary between each other. The social interaction scenes with interactive and flowing feelings are created on the long and narrow plane. The vertical line is to connect people and the space and spreads out all kinds of possible perspectives in life.
CHALLENGE: We attempt to keep the smooth flow and the space feeling without any obstacle of social interaction in the long and narrow layout. In terms of the problems of fragmental corners and fractional windows, we keep the existence of every window but beautify the façade appearance through materials and design techniques.
