| DESIGN NAME: Skin PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sideboard INSPIRATION: The product is a furniture piece that is common in our daily lives, to interact with the human being in a welcoming manner, providing one with a feeling of protection and cover. Thus, nothing would be more appropriate to inspire this, than our own skin; this was how the process process occurred. The result is a sheet of wood, which would already be part of the structure of the door, peeled in an irregular way, and offering the element that will help in the opening of the sideboard. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The unit has an element that guarantees that the doors open in an ergonomic way, sensorial and unique. This resulted in a handle that’s part of the unit, providing the product with a light and provocative aspect, an exclusive solution offered by this product. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The project consists of a functional product that offers the possibility of storing dishes, forks and knives, or other utensils and objects, as well as offering a flat support surface. Can be used in dining rooms, kitchens and other environments. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2018 in São Paulo and finished in September 2018 in Antônio Prado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Mixed technique was used, combining technological accuracy with the subtlety of craftsmanship. All the coating and external finishing were done manually, and the cut was made in the machining center. The front, which we call Skin, was made through the process of pressing the multilayers and molding them under pressure, so that the sheet folded. After this process of hardening of the mold, the irregular cuts were defined, in a process that involved feeling, seeing and approving. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 2400mm x 500mm x 750mm TAGS: robertabanqueri, brazilian design, furniture, all black, sideboard, skinsideboard, skin black, blazilian designer RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research consisted of studying which material would be easier, simpler and cheaper to work on and develop the main element, the skin. Subsequently, the best hinge was chosen that would allow the doors to be completely opened with applied skin. The distance between the parts has also been studied, so that they do not touch when opening. In addition, we rounded the top of the blade to avoid sharpness and risk to the user. Ultimately, it resulted in a product that interacts with human perception. The combination of materials of different finishes was important to highlight the main element, the Skin. CHALLENGE: Making the curved blade was a challenge, the process chosen was to bend the multilaminate in a mechanical press. Another point was to choose the right hinge and the distance from the doors, so as not to hit one another when opening. Our objective is to ally form, function, materials and industrial processes amongst other factors, in single products which will attend expectations and become objects of desire.This is enchanting work involving creation, research and development and our thermometre for acceptance, is the product in the hands of its final consumer. The design must attend functions, make life easier, feed the soul and calm the heart, be a joyful sight, instigate reflection and propose new ideas. Pontoeu products will always be differentiated by their contemporaneity, the correct use of available materials and, in contradiction, for the search for unusual materials and elements; products that can be versatile in their use and disposition, making customization by the client possible, in colours and finishing. |
