| DESIGN NAME: Xiang Song PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant INSPIRATION: Noontide design is committed to coordinate the culture with a commercial space. One of the special design inspirations comes from food ingredients. hunan ranks first among china’s provinces in rice farming, which provides a rich material basis for the development of hunan cuisine. These typical elements represent hunan cuisine, imply the restaurant uses natural materials in dishes, and praise the long history of rice farming in hunan. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Xiang song is a hunan cuisine restaurant designed with the theme calling harvest in the paddy. The inspiration comes from chinese traditional agricultural elements, which are represented by straw and rice fields. You will notice the door is decorated with aluminum straw, and the golden rice fields are surrounding the tables, to create a harvest scene. The luminaire is decorated with fishnet, to represent the fishery culture of hunan. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The space separates from three blocks of different themes. Under the design concept of the rice field feast, it displays loam wall (raw) building materials and techniques in rural China). Net fishing (custom made fishing net lamp) and harvest scene (winnower and autumn harvest). All these application use of the elements and scene builds is related to design concept and dishes, easy for the customer to having the fresh and organic food as through rural rice field. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2018 in Guangzhou and finished in August 2018 in Guangzhou,and was exhibited in Guangzhou in September 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Xiang song door is decorated with aluminum straw are well-arranged, which represents an orderly beauty. And the plastic golden rice fields are surrounding the tables, to create a harvest scene, contributed to the theme of harvest in the paddy. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project space: 640 square meters. TAGS: Australian sandstone, yellow brick wall, wire drawing stainless steel, toughened glass RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At the beginning of the project, Noontide made communicate in-depth with the owner, seeking for a new and usual includes the satisfaction with the functions. The rice ears in the restaurant are made of plastic that has been combined with flames retardant materials. The straws are made of aluminum sheets, neatly arranged and decorated with the exterior of the restaurant. In this way, not only the visual effects meet our original intention, but both safety and practically are also fully considered. CHALLENGE: The theme of the xiang song restaurant is a feast in a rice field. As of such, straws and rice ears were selected to be the main design elements. The challenge this brings along is the fact that straws and rice ears are difficult to install as they can hardly ever stand still. Added to that, they are highly combustible materials that easily grow worms.
