DESIGN NAME: Shenzhen Marriott
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel
INSPIRATION: "Art gallery" hotel is the design concept of the project. Based on this concept, ATG conceived to conceptualize art in artworks, lighting, mechanical & electrical system, home automation system and details in terms of theoretical positioning, personnel allocation, implementation and execution, etc. In this way, the construction work was implemented in coherent and integrated manner, thereby the project was successfully completed that perfectly realized the design drawings.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: There were many difficulties for construction, including the use of diversified materials, the complex construction techniques and numerous material joining. Ensuring that materials are joined naturally and avoiding quality problems such as cracking were also great challenges. Through applying EPC model, ATG successfully completed the project in a way that realized the design drawings and demonstrated the seamless integration between design and construction.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: ATG adopted EPC model, so as to ensure the seamless coordination between design and construction. During the construction process, both designers and the construction team were from the same company and under the instruction of ATG President, Mr. Cheng Chung. In this way, they were able to communicate with each other freely during the construction process, so as to efficiently solve various problems relevant to the design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: 2009-2014
Tower A SCC, No. 88, Haide 1st Road, Nanshan District, Shenzhen city, Guangdong Province

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 1. Modular installation method of spiral staircase
2. BIM-based technology. Through utilizing BIM software, ATG optimized pipeline routes and reduced the intersections of pipes in the restaurant area, hence the floor elevation of the space was increased to 3.2m.
3. With a view to improve the aesthetic quality of the sightseeing elevators and optimizing visual experience for people, ATG re-engineered the elevators with a method they called "Decorative Wrapping Based on Exposure Deconstruction".
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Nanshan is strategically situated at CBD of Nanshan District, boasting a height of 300.8 meters, construction area of 45, 000 square meters and 340 guest rooms in total (338 deluxe rooms, one presidential suite and one vice presidential suite).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design team and construction team are both from ATG which applied EPC model during the construction process. In this way, the client didn't need to worry that the construction team would modify the design drawings randomly and didn't have to deploy a large management team to coordinate with designers and the construction team, which reduced sunk cost and management cost; Materials used for construction were consistent with design samples, thereby design solutions were realized in a perfect and integrated manner.
CHALLENGE: 1. Installation of the spiral staircase without any support. Designers and the construction team worked closely throughout its' design, manufacturing and installation, and applied self-developed modular method for installation. Eventually, the staircase with aesthetic formation and delicate texture came into being.
2. Increase of the restaurant floor height. Through utilizing BIM software, ATG optimized pipeline routes and reduced the intersections of pipes in the restaurant area(44F), hence the floor elevation of the space was increased to 3.2m.
