| DESIGN NAME: Genius Pack Platinum PRIMARY FUNCTION: Smart Backpack INSPIRATION: As frequent travelers and everyday commuters, we used to struggle finding power sockets and transporting our devices. The smart backpacks we tried offered only an external port to recharge one device and had only a pocket for the laptop, therefore they were always messy and without the possibility to charge the additional devices. That is how was born the idea of Genius Pack Platinum, to offer a rechargeable hub that will help people to carry around and to recharge up to 4 devices simultaneously UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: An integrated charging system that allow charging up to 4 devices simultaneously and can be used with any kind of power bank; integrated power bank pocket; 3 integrated USB extensions up to 3A, 1 external and 2 internal, an integrated micro USB input port to recharge the power bank directly from any USB charger, smart layout with pockets dedicated for tablets up to 10 inches, a pocket for laptops up to 15.6 inches, numerous holes and elastic bands to keep the cables organized; Italian design and high quality materials OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The backpack recharge hub works thanks to any power bank (not included) and the system of cables (included), which allow charging to 4 devices simultaneously. The power bank can be charged without taking it out from the backpack thanks to a micro USB input located on the outside. Thanks to the pass-through technology and the cable management system, all devices can be charged at the same time, even while charging the power bank. Functions may vary depending on the power bank used. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project started in Milan in early 2017 and we launched it in January 2018 in both Milan and at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. Shipments started from February 2018. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Fabric: high quality frosted nylon, splash proof; padded shoulder straps and laptop pockets Color: black and grey SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 435mm x 290mm x 105mm 3x USB extensions up to 3A 1x Type-C to Type-C up to 3A 1x Micro-USB up to 2.4A 1x Micro-USB to Type-C adapter up to 2.4A TAGS: backpack, rechargable backpack, travel backpack, italian design, laptop bag, business backpack, technology, travel friendly design, charge on the go RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The first step was the research for the contemporary needs of the people that live their lives on the go and to translate them into a concrete project, identifying the best technologies to be applied. Once the concept was defined, we focused on the research of shapes, fabrics and a captivating color scheme. In the end we made a prototype, ensuring the backpack portability, functionality and comfortability without sacrificing its aesthetic design. CHALLENGE: The main challenge of this project derived from what our competitors presented as a smart backpack, only by inserting an external USB port. Instead, we wanted not only to give a solution to the clients problem but to improve their experience while on the go. Furthermore, we had to overcome problems related to the logistics of electronic material in different countries.
