| DESIGN NAME: SS19 Oblivion PRIMARY FUNCTION: Womenswear Collection INSPIRATION: The collection Oblivion takes its inspiration from a seductive, witchy Diva and is dealing a lot with symbolism and spirituality.The part of the labyrinth which can be seen in every outfit through the massive strips, embroidery and selfdesigned print is metaphoric to our personal thoughts and feelings, in which we can get lost UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: These garments are one of the main pieces of the collection Oblivion which is complex and controversial. All different aspect are elaborated enchanted and bewildered, equally through the massive volume but also provocative suspender pieces, knitwear, the mirror headpiece and delicate fabrics, such as silk, velvet and pure cashmere. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Wearable surrealistic womenswear with an haute couture feeling. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Started in Oktober 2017 and finished in August 2018. Was showcased then in September at New York Fashion Week. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Handsewing, machinsewing, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, fabric manipulations, draping, industrial fabric press, creation of print, digital printing, laser cut SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Capsule collection in size: S; dimensions vary TAGS: Oblivion, collection, womenswear, witch, diva, labyrinth, volume, fashion design, Kim Tiziana Rottmueller, womenswear RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research has a contemporary and historical inspiration gained through books, internet and exhibitions in order to achieve an work of art in form of a garment spotting light on keeping the focus. I experimented a lot with shape and volume to support the idea through the silhouette as well as through the colour. After creating the concept and the design the garments were sewn several times in fabric heavy cotton. Patterns & Draping as well as continuous fittings on models contributed to the appearance. Published internationally in diverse media. CHALLENGE: 1.Widely the sewing part as there was a deadline where the collection had to be finished. More than 85% is handstitched, heavy and worked with extremely delicate fabrics. Finding a company that works precisely with laser-cuts on the given material ( mirror headpieces ) Making by me. NAME: Kim Tiziana Rottmüller PROFILE: Kim Tiziana Rottmüller has been working on her line since the end of 2017 an has showcased since then internationally. She graduated last summer 2018 after a 4 year BA program at Polimoda, Florence Italy in Fashion Design. Her design signature lies in provocation through a feminine but also playful way which stress and complete the main idea of the concept that also provocation is beautiful, too, as well as the discovery of oneself through her design. She pays a lot of attention that everything is connected in a coherent way, artistic and supported always with a surrealistic impact. |
