| DESIGN NAME: Popo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tableware INSPIRATION: Nature and animals are always the source of inspiration. Inspired by them, we can say poetry, we can say story, we can create a dream world like the world of animations and toys, and all of them becomes a delightful feeling, the sensation that roots in our childhood world, the sensation which has been in our minds of the same era and has focused our attention on it. in this project, the basis of the idea is to blend nature with happy and sweet world of animations, which is presented Popo to find UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In the hectic world of today after spending a day working hard, Popo brings a smile and the most beautiful feelings to your homes, a minimalist, emotional and abstract design which is inspired by a fictional world, tiny creatures with small legs sitting on your table. on the other hand, transparency and lightness properties along with the high strength of bone china have provided a proper condition to make Popo as a unique product. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: all popo items have a spherical shape without negative angles, which makes it easy to make and without any errors. the function of the items is simple and with ergonomic principles. the center of gravity is calculated for all items, therefore are completely static. in teapots,sauce cups and cups the distance between the handle and the body is proportional to the standard dimensions. the Necessary grip is considered in the design of teapot handles, Sugar pots and tureens. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was exhibited at the International Household Appliances Exhibition (Tehran , Iran) in November 2014 and they strated the mass production in December 2015. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Popo is made from bone china. one of the most important features of these containers (plates) are transparency, lightness, and high strength. Popo items are produced by casting methods. T the casting material is slurry(grout) of bone china, which is 50% bone powder of the cow. the origin mold is aluminum which is machined with CNC and the others are copied from the original one but with plaster. Popo items plate , dish plate , bowl and cup are produced by Forming. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: soup tureen : length 247 x width 240 x height 210 ,tea pot : length 220 x width 121 x height 215 , sugar pot , length 114 x width 105 x height 95 , creamer , length 137 x width 97 x height 70 , cup : Length 110 x width 87 x height 60 , saltshaker & pepper shaker : length 60 x width 55 x height 50 Packaging dimension is proportional to the arrangement of the services (6, 12, 18). the number of Items and dimension of the packaging changes by changing the design. after shrinking items are placed inside the foam one by one. TAGS: nature , emotional design , minimal design , animation , small hands & legs , bone china , RESEARCH ABSTRACT: popo's items were designed to optimize one of the old products. first, extensive research was carried out on the market as well as various design styles. after presenting various designs, popo was approved for making a prototype and participated in the Tehran household appliance exhibition and got acceptable feedback. finally, popo were entered the mass production phase with respect to customer satisfaction. all researches were conducted through the Internet, studying existing market examples, popular researches as well as articles in the Research and Development department of the company. CHALLENGE: there were two major challenges in the design of Popo, deformation in the edge of the cup that was caused during the cooking of the biscuit items, which was fixed by trial and error with the proper support. other challenge was the small legs & hands of this, which was considered as the item legs. in the initial layout, the stability of the items was on the legs, which changed due to the lack of it finally the legs and bottom of the items were level. Sargolshargh Company with the investment of the Maghsud porcelain group, began production and supply of tableware from bone chaina. this company produces high quality products with the capacity of 2000 tons per year. these products are presented in the form of various brands as luxurious or decorative dishes. bone chaina dishes have high thermal resistance, good mechanical strength, light transmission from the wall, a special lightness and beauty. in the production process ,forming machines, casting mould, express dryer , shuttle furnace for biscuit and glaze , automatic spray glazing and conveyor furnace after decoration are used in production line. |
