| DESIGN NAME: Sofitel Foshan Hotel PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: Inside the Louvre Group, it is shining with golden color that gives a sense of luxury. Many visitors around the world come here and are dazzled by all types of furniture, including the vintage luxurious European furniture and simplistic modern style furniture, which just seem to be Foshan’s tale from past to present. Today, the Louvre Group has already become a place on visitors’ must-go list, and Sofitel Foshan will tell the world about the new charisma of Foshan. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Standing at 239 meters in height, Sofitel Foshan Hotel is located right inside the Foshan Louvre Group Headquarters, which is situated at the best location in Lecong City, a city that is known as “the city of furniture commerce in China” and “the world’s largest furniture supply hub”. To some extent, the project design takes this into account and delivers a “hotel with a world furniture expo combination style” of what Sofitel Foshan has become. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The great hall derives its design from the versatile and decorative Lingnan mansions and gives a hint of “homey feeling”. On top of this Canton atmosphere, the designs blend in with French-style luxury by building a French-style palace of artistic living. The lobby bar connects the space from dual perspectives to allow guests feel at ease while luxurious at court. On one side you can see the exterior Western garden on the same floor, while on the other side you can see from above the furniture exhibition ground on the ninth and tenth floors. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In Foshan, interior design by us combines local and French ingredients by setting up an entrance scene that recalls Pearl River Delta and the pebbled plaza at Arc de Triomphe. Inspired by the alluvial plain at the Pearl River Delta where ecologically circulatory mulberry fish ponds are common ever since the ancient agriculture era, visitors are greeted upon entrance by Lingnan fish ponds and a plaza filled with woods and trails. At the center of the pond elegantly stands a French-style water fountain. Planting traits at the entrance serving as a foreshadowing of what is to come have always been the design mentality of our Design. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Traditionally, Lingnan garden is a design that a big mansion has to greet its owner coming back home. It is also a pastime fun that the Cantonese create based on the subtropics climate conditions. This is why it is chosen that the traditional Chinese “guanmao” chair as a theme of the painting hanging at the entrance, symbolizing greeting guests “back home”. At the same time, the designer blends the Louvre Group’s style in furniture business to show the irregularity style of furniture: wooden blocks during production are carved with precision and pieced together into whole furniture.
