| DESIGN NAME: Irrawaddy House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Residence INSPIRATION: The idea of the project is to design a place where we call home, to transform a run down narrow pre war house into a luxury modern European design with a twist which house 3 ensuite baht room, fully functional kitchen, laundry, living, dining & a bar. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Luxury is no longer associated with just the traditional palatial gold and opulent marble found conventionally in manors or mansions. instead modern-day home manages to combine both old school opulence & contemporary coziness under one roof, beholden to everyone. Superior air ventilation incorporated into the interior allows it to feel larger and spacious. a stark contrast to the dark and cramped image of pre-war house. The elongated living room is connected with the kitchen, dining area & open OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We started out by studying the existing structure before we can start hacking & have our open plan concept for the old pre-war house. we have to come up with the best possible layout to fit 3 bedroom toilet respectively in a narrow pre war house. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Italian Arabescato Marble Moooi Smoke Chair Fenixntm SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Built up 2850sqft TAGS: Restoration renovation terrace house gold black moooi fenix RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We would to transform a run down narrow pre war terrace house into a modern luxury private residential space with an open plan layout which house 3 bedrooms with toilets yet feeling cramp in a existing narrow house footprint. CHALLENGE: The hardest part would be how we can have the open plan layout yet not to damage the existing RC first floor structure. we came up with the I Beam steel reinforcement before we can proceed with the hacking & re position of some of the structural columns & also the cantilever slab which house the free standing bathtub overlooking the skylight. another challenge would be to install the pyramid frame to support the laminated glass for the skylight feature.
