| DESIGN NAME: Trazor GEL PRIMARY FUNCTION: MultiFunctional Wet Shaving System INSPIRATION: Our research tells us that the razor blade manufacturers created a sort of monopoly and started charging exorbitant prices for the blades. To protect their fat margins, they made sure their blades fit only their handles. The aim is to give freedom to users to choose their own blades, with its multi functionality it will be the equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife of the shaving world. The All in one functionality, durability and compactness gave way to Trazors design along with freedom to choose blade. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Trazor Gel is a Revolutionary All in one Shaving System with the worlds first Multi blade adapter that gives the freedom to accept more than 25 of the most popular men and women razor blades. It also has an integrated dual purpose shaving and aftershave gel making it a complete shaving system. Trazors ergonomic design gives one of the smoothest shaves with less hand fatigue and a firm grip. It comes with a sleek and compact travel case. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Trazor has a multi-blade head adaptor giving the freedom to choose 25+ shaving blades. Attach the blade to one of the head and simply start shaving. To change blade type twist the triangular knob to eject blade, press and rotate the head to fit the blade of your choice. Trazor’s handle has an integrated dual purpose shaving and after shave gel dispenser. Press the gel dispenser at the bottom of the handle to eject gel before shaving and apply on face and a second thin layer after shaving. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project started in January of 2017 and the first sets of show quality prototypes were ready in January 2018. It will be launched on Kickstarter for a crowdfunding campaign in the last week of September 2018, formal production will commence in December 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Goal was to completely redesign surgical equipment styling of current wet-shaving razor handles to give the best grip and closest shave. Designers have used cutting edge prototyping to develop a simple to use multi-blade adaptor. To give the soft and hard feel on the Trazor and to ensure structural integrity, along with a comfortable grip complex over-molding was a very critical part for this product. The design was specifically done keeping in mind the multi-functional aspects, durability and best-in-class feel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Product dimensions - 39.34 mm x 41.55 mm x 194.21 mm Carry case dimensions - 57.5 mm x 72 mm x 214 mm Carry case includes our signature Trazor handle with an integrated dual purpose shaving-and-aftersha TAGS: Razor, Shaving, Multi-Functional shaving razor, Ergonomics, Personal grooming, Health-care, wet-shaving revolution, freedom to shave, choose your own blades RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Started with Ethnography to understand the needs in the shaving & grooming space for men and women. We realized: 1- Forced brand loyalty to established brands- limited a user's freedom to try other brands. 2- People have too much to carry when travelling to shave. Prototypes tested with early adopters to optimize- form factor, size, GEL for how many shaves, packaging. Growing concerns regarding chemicals used in skincare products prompted us to develop a gel working jointly with an American company. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this project was to create intellectual property in an otherwise very crowded IP space, dominated by a very few key players. From ergonomics and technology perspective, creating a form factor that was compact - yet having multi-functionality took a lot of time and iterations. Another challenge was the human story, sharing the vision with the team spread out across two continents and testing the boundaries of what seemed impossible.
