DESIGN NAME: The Otto Hotel
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hospitality
INSPIRATION: Design features incorporated integrated to make the most of the limited space, which include the multi-function corner storage cabinet with custom-made clothing hanging rack and additional storage space built under the bed frames for luggage. The full height clear shower partition glass intends to open up the space to increase a sense of depth and to create a seamless flow aesthetically between the bathroom and bedroom.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located in the vibrant shopping district of Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, The Otto Hotel is home to the brand new stylish, hip boutique hotel in Hong Kong. The Otto Hotel keep things simple with 56 tastefully furnished rooms, aiming to make the stay of every modern traveller comfortable, convenient, and affordable, so they can focus on all the other great things Hong Kong has to offer.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The hotel is in full operation now and receives wide-ranging positive comments on its comprehensive provision of amenities within the limited spaces.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: From design to construction, the whole project lasted for 2 years to complete and operate.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Extensive research and review of the space in this miniature hotel room is essential to ensure every inches, corners of spaces are used efficiently and wisely to accommodate all the amenities necessary for modern boutique hotel.
CHALLENGE: Design of these small rooms are also intended to playfully execute thoughtful detailing, which includes the irregular grooves introduced in the walnut wall panels, subtle pattern embossed in the bed back feature art glass panel, and the herringbone pattern timber screen outside the guestroom’s door. These details bring sophistication to the design coupled with the use and celebration of natural materials. Situated on the 3F of the building, the lounge and lobby features a bespoke, stylish wall art panels with the decorated flat roof attached, allowing daylight to pour into the check in counters and creating a visual connection between the street and the interior. The character of The Otto Hotel with its palette of deep colours and materials lends a sense of permanence and authenticity, at the same time creates a desirable, fashionable destinations for modern travellers in this Asia-World City.
