| DESIGN NAME: Le Sommet PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Residence INSPIRATION: Hong Kong, the most busy and long working hours city in the world. People spend lots of time to the company, so this private residential owner which is a young couple wants a relaxing home design. Also, this is a traditional square unit structure, practical but boring likes an office. Inspiring by space, designer uses irregular ceiling lines to play illusions and break the boring pattern. In the dining room, there is a dining table without four legs, which looks like it is floating in the air. It is an innovative work of designers using mechanics .Designer need use lots of mechanics data and testing to support the design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design transform this 1,425 square feet abode designed for a family of four into a living space to retreat after a long period of routine work. Dining table without legs is the distinctive feature to make it out of the ordinary. The floating effect is achieved by the base in stone next to the table, hiding the supporting metallic components. Light sources in the ceiling form an irregular shape with wooden panel. The result is a playful and stylish atmosphere connecting the living and dining. Bespoke details are all surrounded by concealed light strips, leading those features appear to be floating as well. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Irregular wooden ceiling lines connect with living room and dinner room. It is specially design for a young couple which can accepted new living style. In the dining room, there is a dining table without four legs, which looks like it is floating in the air. It is an innovative work of designers using mechanics of tower crane structure principle. For the special highlight, designer create two little house which can separate or connect for kids. These spaces can improve commutation between two kids and keep with a fancy imagination. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Woodwork plays an important role for the flat. The main colors are berge tone and surrounded by grey wallpapers to establish a soft and comfortable atmosphere. Mechanics is that area of science concerned with the behavior of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, and the subsequent effects of the bodies on their environment. The rectangle-shaped dining area makes everyone fell oppressed. That's why ''Magic Table'' is born by using mechanics. It is a dining table without four legs but supporting objects more than 200 lb. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This design added colorpuncture, it is a holistic system which offers a unique way to get to the very roots of many health problems. A young couple is going to living in the flat. They also worked tired outside so they need a comfortable home to relax. Colorpuncture employs seven basic colors. In general, ib put the warm colors such as red, orange and yellow are believed to add energy, while the cool color such as green, blue and violet decrease energy. Mandel also claims that warm and cool colors, when used together, balance yin and yang energy flows. That is why colorpuncture is specially applies for them. Client expected that the designer does not only arranging functional living space for each family member, but also re-shaping the space which could best reflect their own personality, taste and lifestyle. Berge tone colors with a little blue drop are used in the choice of ceiling and furniture in order to create modern and fresh style. However, the lighting effects add colors and brightness throughout the flat. CHALLENGE: This is a traditional square unit structure, practical but boring likes an office. Inspiring by space, designer create use irregular and floating element to make this flat feel comfortable, and more softy. In fact, it is a difficult mission to convince client to use an irregular element in the home design. Most of people prefer traditional square design, the will feel irregular design or shape are waste space. Base on every inch of space is money concept, design promise space will fully utilized and keep comfortable. Finally client tries to accept a new design.
