DESIGN NAME: Transcendence
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clothing
INSPIRATION: Inspired by my background in Network Engineering and previous entrepreneurship experience in technology, I tend to examine daily objects with an interdisciplinary perspective. I am seeking the potential for improvement and innovation through the process of transformation, with the desire of creating an unconventional relationship between forms and functions.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The goal of this collection is to discover the alternative by applying digital fashion design method to America’s most iconic/ traditional material-denim. In this collection, each look forms within a certain timeline, from the past to the present, and finally transform into the future. There are also looks serve the purpose of indicating the error occurred during the digitalizing process. The whole collection combines traditional denim treatment method and innovative 3D construction method.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The 3D design of this collection follows human body anatomy. By providing more room around joints, the mobility of the human body is enhanced.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2018 and finished in May 2018, and was exhibited in Parsons The New School of Design End of Year Exhibition 2018.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This collection started with a research of digital fashion design process. I self-learned and experimented with several 3D design software. After having discovered the 3d fashion design workflow, the main focus was to apply a storyline or a theme into it.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult part is to find out a relatively lower cost workflow. Other than that, choosing a wearable fabric and hardware was also crucial to this project. After nearly a hundred times of testing and prototyping, I was able to bring my idea into the reality.
