DESIGN NAME: La Vie
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence
INSPIRATION: The architectural volume in the review has a large number of openings, with green plantation at the exterior, and this advantageous condition of linking exterior and interior has been integrated into the interior space, with minimalist modern living as the design concept, by using textural masonry material to add to the artistic quality.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In order to accentuate the relationship of layers for the building, interactiveness between levels was purposedly maintained between the levels 2 and 3, as the partial double-height allows light to flow freely in the spaces, which ever so highlights the grandeur of the living room. The extra height with the natural texture and pattern of the masonry further accentuates the grand quality of the TV wall.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As the double height of the living room allows light to flood into the interior space, it certainly elevated the brightness and openness of the interior. The design in functionality opts for installation of hidden cabinet volume, as the lower section of the TV wall in the living room is a slotted shelf to accommodate audio-visual equipment, as an extension of the white storage cabinet into the living room as a visual continuance.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished and exhibited in December 2017 in Taichung City.
The design in functionality opts for installation of hidden cabinet volume, as the lower section of the TV wall in the living room is a slotted shelf to accommodate audio-visual equipment, as an extension of the white storage cabinet into the living room as a visual continuance.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The TV wall with the natural texture and pattern of masonry materials, along with the back wall to the sofa, pleasantly complemented by the light-color flowing-texture marble flooring, does imbue the public area with rhythmic energy and sense of artistry, while the dining area adopts wooden table and chairs in tandem with grey-color artificial marble benchtop, which seems ever so more elegant when complemented by white-color cookware.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: With the double-height at the front section of the plan allows light between levels to converge, the interior is illuminated and opened up, as the multi-level spaces are divided into the level 2 public area and the private area in the level further above. The public area consists of living room, dining area, and kitchen linked with open-planning, with ceilings in different levels posed as invisible demarcation.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Light is brought in through large-area full-height windows, the light-color space seems even brighter. The sheer verticality of the TV wall of natural masonry material on the elevations surface and flooring, the naturalistic texture flows across the surface seemingly in river-like and rhythmic motion, complemented by paintings in the space and furniture and decorative pieces, making the living room an interior space of artistry and culture.
CHALLENGE: The appearance of residence will reflect the accumulation of human's life, consideration of the use and comfort of the overall environment, the design team removes excess compartments to widen the space. Combination of two side windows into one had leads in natural light, which brightening and enlarging the space, and also widens the visual. Combining the needs of dweller, designer raised the floor and plant in green plants on in and out, creating a leisure residence.
