| DESIGN NAME: Cha Fa PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: Other than pursuing spacious multi-person gathering space, dwellers are also looking for convenient and comfortable future life. The design team makes use of brand new and intimate design, blending different culture and era, from confirming style, considerate functional planning, pull out the memories of each other, and ultimate the imagination of future life. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With the core concept of space superposition, the design team created a multiple use space in the limited public area, we draw inspiration from the Ark concept of Bible and designed a brand new tatami room so that it interprets the image of carrying multiple people and actions. This design can be used as three functions such as two-way seating area, multiple entertainments are and restroom, we accurately grasp the height of couch, gap between seat cushion and foot, and create conform ergonomic size ratios. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Considering the limitations of small space, we break through the traditional thoughts of founder pattern, make the flattening parallel main television wall, tatami room seats, and corner woo storage wall into the same axis, so that it could connect living room and dining room as a shared living area, which can be widening the space, the dwellers can also enjoy great comfort when watching television. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In view of the young homeowners and parents have different preferences, our design merging Eastern and Western style, simple Shimizu mold and seamless floor as the base, in the group with simple lines, geometric designs, greenery, and elegant French tone. The kitchen makes use of white marble pattern laminate hard plastic sheet and Prussian blue cabinets to create a visual highlight. Other than that, wooden vocabulary, synthetic fiber tatami creates modern Japanese style. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This is a 40-year-old house around 80m2 located in Xindian, Taiwan. The original structure causes bad moving liner and poor lighting. The fragmented room type also causing unable to play the space functional. Therefore, we decided to make use of opened space to link each functional area, at the same time using the ceiling window to connect indoor and outdoor. The natural sunlight and greenery had led into space, linking modern and natural style, reflect relaxation and intriguing aesthetic texture. The residents can easily enjoy the fabulous outdoor green wall no matter on any place. TAGS: Spatial Stacking, Noah Ark, Finished Concrete, Simple Line Work, Geometric Design, Timber Material RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As the design team removed the complicated decorative ornaments and infused simple design vocabulary which is humanity and warmth, it invigorated the whole spatial pattern and focus on every detail in space, while trying to create a diversification of life by overlapping space so that it can unleash the largest benefit. As the kitchen island-bench and living room as the core domain of this residence, the planning of the public area was informed by the socializing culture nowadays. CHALLENGE: Other than solving life problems, the design team believed that design can make careful attention to the physical and mental feelings of the residents, which can reflect the spiritual dimension and value of life. Considering the different preferences of owner and father in no matter style and demand, the great challenge, in this case, is to blur the boundaries while bringing together the two generations of occupants living together with enjoyment.
