| DESIGN NAME: Yiiboard PRIMARY FUNCTION: Electric Sports Skateboard INSPIRATION: Yiiboard takes advantages of bicycles balancing: directed by the front wheel, driven by the back wheel. Similar to bicycles, the mechanical balance system enjoys both higher stability and agility than using traditional electric gyroscope. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Unlike other four-wheel electric skateboard, Yiiboard takes advantages of bicycles balancing directed by the front wheel, driven by the back wheel. Similar to bicycles, the mechanical balance system enjoys both higher stability and agility than using traditional electric gyroscope. The tail of Yiiboard slightly curves, leaves space and chances for sports hobbyists to challenge stunts and tricks. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Yiiboard has the dual functions of riding and sports. Its quality of waterproof and anti-compression is well adaptive to different road conditions. Its specific design of the front wheel makes its turning radius very short, which contributes to the high performance of the flexibility and stability of our product. On the meanwhile, Yiiboard weighs about 6kg, which is easy for people to carry. It also has a super long endurance, amounting to 20~30 km. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2014 in Shanghai and finished in July 2016 in Shanghai, and was exhibited in Shanghai CES Asia 2016，2017, 2018. USA Las Vegas CES 2017 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Unlike other similar products using wood materials. Yiiboard chooses aviation aluminum with higher strength, toughness, and easier processing property to meet the actual needs of users. Its single front wheel structure, the special anti-wear parts, and slightly tilted-out design of the tail ensure that the users’ skateboard experience and satisfy the more advanced actions with the board as well. In addition, Yiiboard is also equipped with LED daytime running lights, waterproof ability, and personalized sandpaper process. With which users can be provided with DIY and high-end customization experience. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: 860mm*215mm*150mm, Weight: 6.56kg TAGS: Yiiboard, skateboard, electronics, sports, innovative, travelling, vehicle RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The idea came from a portable short distance transportation concept, most of these products as 2-wheels, self-balanced vehicles are very hard to use and not fun. We try to design something that people can use their self-balance ability to travel but with sport experience, just like bicycle riding is not only for travel but also very fun experience. We first made an engineer sample and test different mechanism structure to fit the experience in daily use. Then we showed to public and improved with feedback. When design for the final shape and handle for lift, also water-proof ability, it took a long time to make an idea became a real retail product. CHALLENGE: It is an all-new device that support people for short distance travelling, We should make weight and speed, distance, portable, experience, all these factor in a balance way. it is not easy to keep good balance, we focus in distance and experience and keep the weight as light as possible.
