PRIMARY FUNCTION: Low Chair
INSPIRATION: The main idea was to give awareness to the use of wood as a precious material. Mankind is responsible for changing climate and nature's natural aspects. Renewable wood sources should be a universal law. Recycling old noble wood is another solution. The low chair Mac uses wood from demolished farm houses specially selected to create a precious third life for this noble Brazilian tree called Pink Peroba. Jelewerry aspects and solutions were applied to the concept bringing awareness to wood usage
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The low chair Mac is the result of mixing the visual aspects of contemporary Brazilian jewellery and handmade furniture. As a country with the biggest tropical forest in the world, Brazil plays an important role concerning about the preservation of natural resources. The wood used on the project came from demolished farm houses and was treated as precious as the golden brass backrest. All materials were assembled precisely together by the hands of local artisans.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The low chair Mac was designed to fill the observer's eyes with passion and, at the same time, be surprisingly comfortable even for meditation sessions.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2017 in Uberaba and finished in may 2018 in São Paulo and was exhibited at University of São Paulo at the Brazilian Furniture Exhibition

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The piece design transits between furniture an jewellery design bringing awareness to use of wood as a very precious an limited material. All materials were treated carefully by the artisans as jewellery makers would do during the realization of the project. Every step was handcrafted by local Brazilian artisans.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research began comprehending the metaphorical concept of jewellery as it holds the meaning of precious, rare, valuable and precisely made. The concept was transferred visually and technically to the furniture world giving background to the metaphysical meaning of the piece, as it protects the main idea of the preciosity of nature, especially the Realm of Trees and the wood extracted from it.Pink Peroba wood from old demolished farm houses was used showing that no more native forest need to be put down. Wood was treated carefully, ending up with a product that is a special and spiritual homage to the original tree.
CHALLENGE: Searching wood from the old demolished farm houses was the path to understand this kind of market. After that, accompaning the rebirth of the old logs was amazingly heart touching. The deteriorated external aspect gave place to a freshly new Pink Peroba when the logs got to the cabinetmaking. After that the wood was hand sculpted by local Brazilian artisans. They truly respect these this kind of material. All this magic contributed to create a jewellery maker aura inside the cabinetmaking.
