DESIGN NAME: Zhui
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry
INSPIRATION: The design was inspired by the falling water droplets, presented in a simple and abstract geometric form. The metal and bamboo materials were combined to create a modern and stylish aura for the traditional bamboo braid. The cold metal jewelry is embedded with the softness and slenderness of bamboo.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The jeweler design incorporates metalworking and bamboo weaving techniques. The metal material is 18k pure gold, with a hollow to reduce weight. The woven material is bamboo rake. The more it is worn, the subtler changes will be in the luster of bamboo due to frequent contact with the skin, giving the jewelry a touch of life.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Hollow metal design makes the jewelry lightweight. This reflects the humanized design. Bamboo vines are mild in texture and environmentally friendly, and bamboo vines gradually change their colors over time, as if they have certain emotions, which enhance interaction with the wearer.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2017 and finished in January 2018 in Beijing.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Most of the traditional jewelry are mainly metal and pearls. The introduction of natural elements is the subject of the project. Bamboo weaving performs well in plasticity and is suitable for various forms of design.
CHALLENGE: The combination of bamboo and metal is a difficult point. The woven bamboo vines fit over the metal surface and will not fall off easily. Although the two parts not connected, they fit together as a whole.
