PRIMARY FUNCTION: Welcome Tray
INSPIRATION: Horizon inspired by the idea of providing a superb experience to hotel visitors. Instead of just fulfilling their needs, it is designed for bringing a wish to use it also in their living space. Another idea that is behind this product is making a completely sustainable product with natural materials.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Horizon is offering changes and solutions for welcome tray experience. Different from others Horizon is serving various tea and coffee types in glass tubes. This allows people to brew their drink with the chance of adjust the amount of tea or coffee.Another unique property of Horizon is using the third dimension for storing the glasses. By this way of storing, inside of the glasses are protected from dust.Horizon also have an empty glass for putting the used infuser after people finish brewing.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Horizon has an instruction card that shows usage amounts and brewing times for different kind of drinks. The type of the drinks is indicated at labels on the glass tubes. Two infusers are available for brewing. A sugar jar is available for use if preferred. Cleaning of the product is not a problem even it is a wooden product. Horizon is coated with a water-resist matte varnish.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2017 and finished in January 2018 in Ankara.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The body of the product is made by joining plywood plates. The jars and tubes are made of glass. The glass mats are made of aluminum.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Nowadays most of the welcome trays are made of plastic materials. Making the welcome tray from ecologic materials bring it through inartificial and reformer structure. In addition, use of plywood and solid wood allows giving a contemporary form to welcome tray.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge was optimizing the places of components and dimensions of the body.
