DESIGN NAME: Grayscale
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Loft
INSPIRATION: Before the design work was carried out, the designer went to the project site to conduct a live shooting record. There is no light on the project site, only a large window, the light and shadow relationship becomes very simple and strong. During the shooting process, the camera accidentally fell to the ground, resulting in a blurry, overexposed, strange picture and a somewhat abstract picture. This photo actually has its own beauty. So the designer decided to try to restore this feeling of strong light and shadow of the photo, and finally presented this work for everyone.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is located next to one of Asia's largest wildlife zoos in Guangzhou, China and covers an area of only 50 square meters. The purpose of the client’s purchase of this home is only to use it for vacations with children on weekends, or occasionally when drinking with friends. During the design process, the space available for use is maximally increased, allowing a 50-square-meter space to be owned by a single district: bedrooms, study rooms, living rooms, dining rooms, toilets, and kitchens. The functions are complete and there is no room for smallness.
How to increase the area actually used to about 80 square meters.
Glass-transparent materials have been used in design to save space and use natural light as much as possible, using very simple, pure black, white, and grey materials, combined with partially natural wood. Create a very photographic space. Especially in color, there are not many bright colors. They are used only for embellishment, making the colors and light in the space more peaceful and have a feeling of photography.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design uses a lot of glass and metal to divide the space. Make use of the refraction of light and the color of glass to make the space more detail. In the use of color, we refer to some of the techniques of painting, with a large number of intermediate colors, with a small amount of dark color embellishment. The height of the space is not enough, and there is only one window, almost a closed space. In order to make the light more adequate, we use a lot of glass, through scientific calculations, as far as possible to make the light refracted longer distance. At the same time, we also designed a lot of 4000K lights, so that the space is more like the light of the sun.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Residential area: 100 square meters

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: There is not much time to complete the project. We have to simulate everything before we build it. At the same time, we build the factory in the production of all the doors, cabinets, walls, lamps, etc., so as to minimize the construction time. CHALLENGE: The height of the space is not enough, and there is only one window, almost a closed space. In order to make the light more adequate, we use a lot of glass, through scientific calculations, as far as possible to make the light refracted longer distance. At the same time, we also designed a lot of 4000K lights, so that the space is more like the light of the sun. In the process of construction, the most difficult is the ultra-thin glass must be embedded in a very fine metal frame. In order to solve this problem, we tried a lot of materials, of course, we finally did it.
