| DESIGN NAME: Air Touch PRIMARY FUNCTION: Air purifier INSPIRATION: As the process of purifying the air goes on, the absorbed particulate matter will turn filter element grey and it looks like the previous beautiful landscape is fading away in dusky “sky”. In this case, people can alter the filter element in time. A brand new air purifier is created thanks to its visualization and interaction . UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The unique point of Air Touch is to visualize the particulate matter in the air so as to observe the gray tone changes of the filter element in a more bright and direct way. This idea breaks the norm and makes visualized filter element possible to the general public. Moreover, the filter element is presented in the form of sky with the background of traditional Chinese landscape paintings, which is more like a decoration rather than merely plain filter element. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Superb quality, beautiful elegant in look. For bed room of size 12"-15" got cleaned from 90 to 42 in just 5 minutes exactly. The air filter needs to be replaced once in a year. Don't use the product during cooking or with Windows open. Rather use it after cooking is over to remove unwanted remaining gases or within closed doors. This will increase the lifetime of air filter PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Oct 2016 in Guangdong and finished in August 2017, and was exhibited in DGUT GTCIST ID Dept., in Oct 2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The first stage in the filtration process is made up of a pre-filter(base part) which removes most of the larger dust, hair, PM10 and pollen particles from the air. The second stage is a high quality HEPA filter, which filters out the finer dust particles which escape the pre-filter. Air Touch uses H11 class HEPA filters for maximum protection from PM2.5 particles, removing almost 99.97% of these pollutants.Finally, the air is passed through the top part filter which has a unique filter remove airborne chemicals, microbes, and hazardous volatile organic compounds from the passing air. The team, led by Kan Haidong, a professor at Fudan University's School of Public Health, shed light on the prevention and treatment of diseases caused by PM2.5－fine particles 2.5 microns or less in diameter that can go deep into the lungs and cause health problems, even deadly ones. There is considerable evidence that the tiny particles found in polluted air can damage the cardiovascular system, but it is still not fully known how they work in many parts of the human body. CHALLENGE: This design project is to remand the user by old Chinese painting. the good quality of the air is free and nature at the old time. While air cleaning may help control the levels of airborne particles including those associated with allergens and, in some cases, gaseous pollutants in a home, air cleaning may not decrease adverse health effects from indoor air pollutants. NAME: Dongguan University of Technology PROFILE: As the first full-time regular university in Dongguan, Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) was initially bred in 1990 and coming into birth in 1992, which proudly has Dr. Chenning Yang, a Nobel Laureate in Physics, as the Honorary President. Under the authorization of the Ministry of Education, DGUT enrolled her first undergraduates in 2002 and awarded her first bachelor degrees four years later in 2006. In 2003, DGUT moved into the national High-tech Park of Songshan Lake, which expands DGUT into two campuses nowadays: Guancheng Campus (Downtown) and Songshan Lake Campus. In 2010, DGUT was listed into the initial institutions for national “Outstanding Engineers Cultivation Project” and meanwhile was approved by Guangdong provincial government, as a preparatory institute for master degree-awarding. Furthermore, DGUT has incubated an independent college: City College of Dongguan University of Technology (CCDGUT) in 2004.
