DESIGN NAME: Aeon Flow
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Trimaran
INSPIRATION: Biomimicry:" Design innovation inspired by biological natural system"
The design concept takes inspiration from shark skin hydrodynamics, covered with tiny bony teeth
The denticles provide protection and reduce drag.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The aesthetic-functional analysis is synthesized in a trimaran, developed in the Open, Hard Top and T-Top versions, of 55 feet, with an organic-futuristic design, aimed at a youthful target with an eye to the environment.
Hull and superstructures are covered with a 3D micro-textured hexagonal film, whose variable density and size depending on its position, which will favor the anti-fouling, aquaplaning and superhydrophobic effects, increasing hydrodynamics and reducing operating costs.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: More attention has been given to the choice of eco-technologies (Solar-Roof, Vertical axis wind turbine, Hydro generators) and of Biocompatible materials.
The Aeon Flow 55 Trimaran, thanks to the Volvo Penta All-in-One Glass Cockpit system combined with the latest generation IPS15-A D8-800 propulsion engine, guarantees high performance, reduced consumption and ease of use.
The skydeck configuration allows for a 30% increase in outdoor spaces and a direct relationship with the sea.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2016 in Rome and finished in August 2017 in Rome. It received an honorable mention at MYDA "Millennium Yacht Design Award" in March 2018

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research undertaken was mainly focused on the design flexibility.
The deck and windscreen junction has been designed to fully meet the construction criteria of the Open, Hard Top an T-Top versions, in according to the simplification of the construction phases. This solution will allow the owner to change from a version to another in a post-production phase, through easy assembly operations on site, and it will ensure design flexibility and a reduction production and refitting costs.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to combine firmitas, utilitas and venustas.
The hull has a tapered shape forward to reduce drag, with semi-structural counter-molds in order to reduce weight and increase spatiality indoors.
In this way you get a performance but comfortable hull, perfect for those who want high performance and comfort on board.
